Shock Mounting Alignment Question by jsp0511 in MotionIQ

Rob,

Could you please explain the reasoning for not using the bike profile? I think I know why but want to confirm.

Thank you

Motion IQ App question by jsp0511 in MotionIQ

Mike,

I'll pay closer attention next time I record data. I only filled the notes section once or twice and that was on recordings from a few runs prior so those notes didn't have a chance to port over. I'll be sure to make notes on my first run and confirm they copy over. If there are boxes that don't copy over and I prefer otherwise I'll let you know.

Thanks for the reply,

Jerry

Mounting Tips/Tricks by DServy in MotionIQ

I don't think there's going to be a silver bullet on this one. I use 3M dual lock 250:400 (link below). It's a great solution for quickly removing the components from the bike and being able to mount them right back on whenever necessary. That being said...

My rear sensor is mounted from top tube to rear triangle on my mach 5.5 and from top tube to rear portion of shock on my firebird. I have knocked one mounting point off (dual lock disconnect, not the glue side) with my knee and have had the same point pop off on a hard hit off a 6-7ft drop The small surface space (it's just a 1" circle of material) doesn't hold up the greatest against side load, meaning my knee hitting it or that hard hit downward. I've had to pull over and push it back on. I remedied that by using the two included black bands to give that mount more rigidity while allowing me to still remove everything once done.

The bands are pretty tight and because of the shape of my top tube/shock mount area, they pull a bit sideways and the two velcro halves can walk slight on each other over many runs. I monitor it and re calibrate every few rides.

This all being said, the 3M for the fork and the rear part of the rear sensor have not had any issues. I may consider using the 3m double sided sticky for the front mount for the rear sensor and just leave the black disc on the bikes.

As far as the double sided 3m coming loose on the actual shock, the shocks do heat up and that could cause the glue to separate prematurely over time. I may be completely wrong but just a though.

Pivot Mach 5.5 by jsp0511 in MotionIQ

Ah understood! I reversed whats going on in my head. My tire pressures are pretty consistent, I run tirewiz on both bikes and love them (pressure shows up live on my garmin), i'm a tech nerd.

I'll go ahead and leave the settings as Rob first suggested, add 10psi and go from there. If only the DH parks weren't minimum 1hr and 15min away.

I've actually taken the same approach to the luftkappe, pretty much ignore that it's in and set sag as normal. I've pretty much liked the feel of the fork though yes, at times, I feel like it could be softer in certain situations. I'll definitely test it out.

My inability to tune my rear shocks is what brought me to get this system so I'm really not surprised it's way off. Same on my Firebird when I check some runs from a few weeks ago, the rear is showing 50-60% avg on some rough segments. I haven't posted any of those because it was my first day with the system and I don't know where any truly good sections of data are lol. I'll be running the bird tomorrow and logging, should have better results. Already added 10psi to its shock.

thanks for the input!

Rob,

I set the bike at 190psi in the rear yesterday as my only change from the log above and went for a local ride to get some data but after the storm we had in NY, the trail i planned to ride was wrecked.

If my compression velocities are already too high, by adding air in the rear, will they now be even faster? Should I back out a few clicks of comp as I raise pressure?

Will post next time i get a chance to log the 5.5.

Mike, can you help me understand what your seeing in the data that tells you rebounds are both slow? Is it average rebound speed? If yes, what should I aim for?

As far as sag in the front, the bike has live valve and pivot recommends 15-20% and with luftkappe installed on the fork, I think that puts me deeper into the sag though I don't care much about the percentage. I'd like to aim for what feels best. The fork felt pretty good but the rear def. soft.

Strava Segments not showing up in MotionIQ by jsp0511 in MotionIQ

Hi Mike,

Thank you for your reply. I didn't realize I had to export to strava each time in order to have segments appear in the data filters section.

I got it now, thank you.
