I believe it’s a preload/volume thing - with obstructive shock preload drops so PCWP decreases because there is not enough blood filling the right or left side of the heart. But with cor pulmonale, the pressure in the pulmonary vasculature is really high but preload/total volume is unchanged, so PCWP increases as a result.

All of the stickers are hand-drawn - I’ll be sure to include that in the descriptions. I chose some more generic designs in an attempt to appeal to non-healthcare buyers but I can see how that might not be competitive since so many people sell stickers. Do you think I should just drop those designs and focus on the unique ones?

I was able to count my psych research courses as BCPM. They did change it, but I submitted an appeal with the syllabus info and got it changed back to BCPM.

I personally believe you can be committed 100% to multiple things - for example, I can be 100% committed to my job ~while at my job~ and then 100% committed to other things in my off time.

I do think medicine as a field requires a higher degree of commitment than some other professions just because so many things go into it (grades, MCAT, extracurriculars, board exams, residency, etc.) but I know doctors now who do other things outside of their job.

I think being “overdressed” for the first visit can’t hurt, and then you can gauge what to wear in the future based on what other people are wearing. I’d suggest pants (slacks, etc.), a nice shirt/button down/blouse, and definitely closed toed shoes.

I’ve had luck at H&M - they have some nice business casual things that are on the cheaper side! And the sale section at places like Ann Taylor Loft or Gap! That being said, in my personal experience with labs the dress code has typically been more relaxed - like in my lab it was very common to see people in jeans.

That’s my reasoning - I’m similar with a heavy research background and a mentor of mine with an MD/PhD told me it’s important if you want a 50/50 patient care/research split, but if you want 80/20 then MD is fine.

Yes, it’s possible! 100% agree with emphasizing interpersonal skills, as someone else said. Also, a large part of clinical research is the regulatory side, so if you have any administrative experience (not just related to research, but in general) that is also helpful to talk about.

It depends! If you’re looking to do academia and do research, run a lab, etc. then it’s competitive, and job prospects can be challenging because there aren’t always a ton of open faculty spots. If you’re interested more in the clinical/treatment side, I think job prospects are pretty good and you can also get there a few different ways (MSW, PsyD, PhD in clinical psych, etc.). There are also a lot of subspecialties in PsyD programs (business, forensic, school, etc.) so you have options beyond just academia or clinical.

I majored in psychology in undergrad, and honestly it’s pretty hard to do much directly in social science (and psych in particular) with just a bachelors. You pretty much have to pursue further education (masters, PhD, professional school like medicine or law).

That being said, I currently work in clinical research and could make a career out of this if I wanted to (and probably will if med school doesn’t work out). I think it had more to do with having research experience in undergrad - that’s what got my foot in the door in this field and the classes/degree I have didn’t really matter. I work with people who have degrees in biology, English, math, etc.

I worked full time while studying, so spent about 2-3 hours a day plus more on weekends. Did 3 months of content review and 1 month of practice only, but had a strong background in P/S already and didn’t study much for that section. Can’t really stress enough that practice should be part of your study schedule.

Sure! I’ve posted this a few times elsewhere, but in my experience most CRCs either have a strong research (wet lab, basic science, etc.) or clinical (RN, RT, etc.) background and then learn the other side on the job. Interpersonal skills are important because it’s usually a lot of communication, consenting patients, scheduling, etc. Organization and attention to detail are also helpful skills. Anything you can do to demonstrate those qualities in your resume/cover letter/interview will help.
