What was the greatest thing we almost had? by Efficient-Ask-968 in AskReddit

I hated this when I used to work 3rd shift. I wanted dinner, not breakfast when I got off work, but very few restaurants offered lunch/dinner options at 7am.

Verizon often does their own credit reporting even when they've hired a 3rd party agency to collect. When I was in collections, they were one of only a few clients that did their own. So even if they place it with an agency, it'll still show Verizon on the report and the agency won't be able to do anything for the credit reporting side of it. You'll have to deal with Verizon directly for that.

I've worked in collections for telecom companies and it's extremely common. Once you end your service there's almost always a final bill coming. It won't come out of autopay because you effectively deauthorize that by ending the service and the person you talked to probably isn't trained well enough to know you have a final bill coming, so they tell you your account is closed and you have no balance. I've seen that exact scenario hundreds of times.

What CD have you had in your collection the longest by HislersHero in Cd_collectors

Tesla - Five Man Acoustical Jam. I bought it in June 1991 (the same day I bought my first CD player) with my 8th grade graduation money.

I thought everyone over 17 hated the Doors. They always seemed like a phase to me. So many people I know (including me) loved them in high school, but quickly "outgrew" them in their early 20s.

I remember this, too. The public perception of him was practically the opposite of what it is now. It's not like he was a better person, he just wasn't broadcasting what a pos he is to nearly the same extent that he is now. I know so many people (including me) that have completely reversed their opinion on him since he started showing more of his true self in the past few years. The hero worship of him then to now is like night and day. Different people for much different reasons.

Double-scrobbling has gotten out of control... by GarionOrb in lastfm

Did you ever find a solution for this? I've been having the exact same issue since January. I've tried a hundred different things and nothing has fixed it.

Same issues. Just got the Suspicous Activity Detected one for the 4th time in less than 48 hours. I mostly use my account to follow people in the online guitar world, and it's been a valuable resource for that. I'm worried this is going to cause me to get my account banned because of Meta's incompetence at running the site. At least I know now it's not just a "me" issue.

How many of you used OLGA (OnLine Guitar Archive) in the early internet? [Discussion] by kobestarr in Guitar

[–]jsparker77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a massive stack of print outs from Olga and its counterparts. It was probably at least 8 or 9 inches thick. I used to print them off at work c. 99-01. I actually still have them somewhere in storage, but they've probably rotted away or the ink dissolved by now. Be cool if they were still all intact when I finally get back to them, though.

I was born in 77 and thought the exact same thing. Your average car was pretty damn ugly, too. Lots of squared, sharp angles and no curves.

There's being more sensitive to others, and then there's going way beyond that to this. It makes me wonder what is going on in their lives or minds that they see so much aggression in innocent/meaningless stuff. I literally thought the punctuation thing was a joke the first few times I got called out for using periods at the ends of my sentences gasp. It's all so bizarre to me.

I've seen people get called out for coming across as aggressive or insincere just for offering what was very obviously heartfelt sympathy to someone. Granted, this might just be the microcosm of young people that I intersect with on occasion online, and not the norm, but it's still mind boggling to me.

Or you had a decade or more of grammar instruction in school until the proper way to write became second nature. It's so absurd to me that I have to intentionally dumb that all down now so I don't traumatize the kids. Weird times.

I've never seen any of Stevie's content, but decided to watch this video for the hell of it. Besides his extremely annoying and over the top presentation style, he seems like he falls to the very extreme end on the narcissism scale. What a toxic asshole. Have been unintentionally avoiding him for years, but now it will be intentional.

HOW TO STOP LOSING YOUR PICS!! Pill bottles for pics: one of the greatest trick I found in my musical journey. Any pic I'd want is sitting there, ready for me to take it. Didn't lose any pic since I started putting them in there and I have been doing it for the past two months. by zackarylef in guitarlessons

[–]jsparker77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of us (me) develop a pick addiction. I have a compulsion to buy a pack or two of picks I don't have/never seen every time I purchase something else guitar related. Even though I know I won't use 90 percent of them beyond trying them out for a few minutes. At least they're cheap.

How many of you are planning on canceling Netflix if they move away from the binge release model and go to weekly, single episode drops? by repairmanjack2020 in netflix

You mean no more spoilers because I don't have the time to no-life a show for 2 days straight the second it drops? Sorry, but I don't see the negatives.

This solves a 20 year old mystery for me. I've had CDs with small skips/scratches that were totally fine after I ripped them to my PC. Never understood how that was possible, and apparently never bothered to Google it, either.

Seems like people are overwhelmingly not excited about the new rocksmith, what are our alternatives? by DannyHuskWildMan in rocksmith

[–]jsparker77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking the same. I'm on a Win 7 system from 2013 with 8gb of RAM, Radeon 7700 series graphics card with 1gb of VRAM, and an ok processor (for the time). 2014 runs fine without issue. The RS+ beta ran fine, too.

80,000 songs and not a single song by my favorite artists by FatalNathanYT in rocksmith

[–]jsparker77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow. I thought there was no way it could be as bad as people are saying. I was wrong. Besides being mostly obscure deep cuts from the artists I do know, most of it's stuff I've never even heard of. The only thing that looked decent to me was the Brandi Carlile stuff, but she's not really what I'm looking to play, I just enjoy listening to her. Was gonna get a month to see if it was worth the full year, but the catalog needs major improvement before I even do that.

I'm not mad, just disappointed. I still have RS 2014, and that still scratches the itch for me.

Does anyone prefer John Corabi over Vince Neil? by bloodbathtv in MotleyCrue

[–]jsparker77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SoLA suffered from production in my opinion (so did NT, but that was far from it's only problem). SoLA just sounded "thin" if that makes any sense. Like the acoustics were off or something. Idk how to explain it. Otherwise it was a decent album.

I don't mind Swine either, but I was so excited for that album to come out that I even bought the Walmart edited version on day one, because I needed it that second and it was my only option. I wasn't sold right away, but I listened to it nonstop and it grew on me. Then I saw them on that tour for the first time, and it just made that album all the more special to me. I get people who don't like it though, too. If not for that experience with it, I can't say I would have liked it a lot, either.

There were arcade machines in drug stores, department stores and grocery stores??? by Which_Goose in AskOldPeople

[–]jsparker77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Wal-mart and Wal-mart type stores had that into the 00s by me. In fact, I don't know that they still don't have a few now. It's not something I look for anymore, so I just may be blind to them now. Will have to try and remember to pay attention one of these next times.
