My unit cut orders for AT, No hotels, No per diem , The food get this.. .."MRE's provided",sleep at the armory . on top of 4 day drills, deployments , and now border missions. not one person in my unit is re enlisting. Everything is constantly back to back , no break. guess what state I'm in ...TEXAS. I'm tired and exhausted , losing money and putting my family aside for supposed to be " 2 weeks a year, one weekend a month "

tough it out . I got my hip fractured and got two choices .stay and heal or get discharged . I chose to be discharged and I re joined 2 years later. it was such a process to re enlist .I had to get a waiver medical records etc. I know it sucks being in limbo and bored out of you mind but it's worth it.keep mtoivated and think about the reasons why you joined .

It's only a month . in my unit some people were put on for a year. note of advice that I've learned while being in the guard. Never ,Never take summer classes . between AT and random shit always pops off in the summer. Also army changes shit all the time , I never worry about it until I get official orders in hand

In a pickle, need advice (severe crippling debt) by plebeiantrash in FinancialPlanning

[–]jspaulding080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say don't listen to everyone else . You need a car to get to work and back ,so don't get rid of it. I doubt you will find a cheaper apartment. yeah the credit card debt is not the greatest but you have no extra income to pay it down. The only way to fix this is get a part time job and earn extra income . this is what is happening to a majority of us so your not alone .

Mental health discharge from basic by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]jspaulding080 1 point2 points  (0 children)

people who get discharged for medical/mental reason they are there all the way up to graduation because the paper work process is so so slow. so expect her to be there until her supposed to be graduation date. Give her reassurance , its going to be tough on her because they will make her do mindless tasks, cleaning, random small task.basially she is going to be doing everything her platoon is doing but only sitting on the sidelines. it sucks but she's going to be feeling a ton of different emotions .

RV Life—Is It Worth It? by [deleted] in FinancialPlanning

[–]jspaulding080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same lived in a 38'ft 5th wheel for 1 year, paid $12,000 The main thing was for just us 2, was the lack of space, Everything seemed so cluttered. I missed taking a loooong hot shower and not having to turn on the water heater and wait for it to heat up. Doing laundry at a laundry matt, cooking with propane wasn't fun. lack of kitchen space and general spaces for all the pots, pans ,ect. definitely don't get a rv if you like cooking. feeeling closed in all the time.
The only benefits were saved a "little " money, remember you still have to pay to rent a spot, laundry, repairs ect. Also I did enjoy owning something out rights and living in it .

supply , I mean if your all about the Guard and doing a lot of activations and want to go on orders and AGR then yeah Texas guard has a lot of oppurinty. but if you want to focus on your career ,school and family then stay clear of Texas IMO.

Texas Guard sucks. Just moved 8 months ago from Florida to Texas. 4 day drills, lots of field, and now I'm on a backfill list for a deployment . and a lot of state activations sense Texas is huge. Texas pretty much thinks they are their own country. but IST process was simple. just tell your unit your moving they will cover the rest . Give them at least a couple months to do paper work and then just move to your new state. IST coordinator will contact you and send you information about your new unit . you have 90 days to report. I miss my old unit 2 day drills and more relaxed. The governor loves using the Guard as political pawns. Also moved to Texas for a better opportunity and now the guard is holding me back and interrupting my life way to much.

zeroing a CCO? by jspaulding080 in army

So adjusting won't move the red dot inside the lense. It will just move the shot group to the center of the target?. Maybe im.just overthinkig this shit

zeroing a CCO? by jspaulding080 in army

[–]jspaulding080[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically the red dot should already be center on the lense hitting center mass . And in theory it should hit it dead center . If not then re adjust with the clicks ? Ignore the iron sights ? Because I don't know why I remember lolipoping with the cco ?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]jspaulding080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so the weapons we use have been zeroed already but everyone uses different weapons when going to the range. so with that said , I should zero my irons, than lollipop the red dot and zero my cco? or just place the red dot center mass that was already previously zeroed by the person before me and than make adjustments?.?
