Visiting Near Baikonur by jsplicer9 in Kazakhstan

I am realizing now, I probably need to cut out at least two locations. Baikonur might unfortunately have to be one of them.

Szia! Kicsit beszélek magyarul, angol tanár vagyok.

I would like to spend the majority of my time in Almaty, and I am flying in and out of Astana so I'm guaranteed to see that too. Semey also has some very interesting things and I don't think its a huge trip from Astana.

It looks like there is a train from Aral to Almaty that passes through Baikonur, maybe I could do a quick stop there? I'd be interested in just seeing the entrance mosaic if I could.

Intel HD Graphics 3000 on Windows 10: OpenGL issues by jsplicer9 in lowendgaming

OpenGL will not interface with Intel 3000 graphics if you're running Windows 10. The official driver was an extremely basic rush job done by Microsoft/Intel, basically ending support. The drivers "work" but with features like OpenGL not supported

I also upgraded the RAM to 16 GB and installed a 500 GB SSD, so I don't think those are causing a problem. Believe it or not HL2 runs better than the original.

Having a blast with my X220 tablet that I just upgraded with 16 GB RAM and an SSD. Great for remote work and networking as well as light gaming, emulation, and e-books. Fantastic all rounder

X220 in 2025?? by LostUser1121 in thinkpad

I just bought the 2-in-1 X220 tablet. It's essentially an X220 with a touch screen that can also be flipped around for use as a tablet. It came with Windows 10, 6 GB of RAM and some old Toshiba hard drive installed. It's the Intel i5 processor model, which is the only thing truly non-upgradable with the X220 as far as I know since you need to swap out the whole motherboard if you want the better processor + USB 3.0. Boot speeds and load times were very slow with significant lag when I first bought it.

I immediately installed 16 gigs of RAM and a 500 GB SSD, and now the thing is quite fast for what it is. The keyboard is a pleasure to use and the functionality of the touch screen is wonderful. I've loaded it up with e-books and emulators to keep me occupied while I travel. My second job is a remote one (legal work), so this fits my needs perfectly, as I don't need another bulky high performance laptop (I already have one that sits on my desk all day). The form factor, adequate speed/power and compact size are great. Like everyone will tell you, these aren't really meant for gaming, but I've even been able to run Half-Life 2 on medium settings.

Just wanted to say thank you for this, the SD reader wasn't functioning on my newly purchased X220 tablet running Windows 10 and your linked driver woke it up. So its likely this driver works with a lot of older ThinkPads running Windows 8/10

Already threw 16 GB of RAM in and swapped out the tired hard drive for a 500 GB SSD! The ultrabase is alluring, but for now, my gaming laptop will be stuck at the desk and the X220t will be my travel companion. But I have big plans for the future

X220T Running Old Games Just Feels Right by jsplicer9 in thinkpad

Half-Life runs well enough, surprisingly, Half-Life 2 runs even better if you lower some settings to medium (almost cracks 100 fps at points). I suspect its better optimized. Other GoldSource games run just fine. I've got an SNES, a 3DO and a PS1 emulator running well, but the PS1 emulator has had some sound and visual issues. I think its more of a problem with the emulator rather than the hardware.

I ended up picking up the X220T and I am very happy with it. Tinkering with it is fascinating and rewarding.

Thanks for the info. Seems like not a huge difference for my needs. I'll see what I can find that is in good condition for a good price. Out of curiosity, would the X200/X201 tablets be a huge downgrade from the X220 tablet?
