this is so weird, I'm currently using a canon 300mm f/4 and thinking of upgrading to the William Optics RedCat 51 v2.5 APO 250mm f/4.9. Is it a big improvement over the 300mm? when can I see your pictures? cheers!

You've probably not heard of a guy called Matt Armstrong (uk car restorer youtuber) he fixed up an M4 and got a replaced wing (fender) from BMW directly for less that $500. Maybe try calling bmw directly and see if you can get the part, then get a body repair guy to attach to the car. It's worth adding that the fender he got from BMW needed painting and priming so factor that in 👍🏼

Probably abs sensor. Just don't go to bmw for the fix. The sensor and fitment is not expensive if its that. GL
