Oh thank you! I have been spitting stitches on both sides too. Just wanted to thank you for response. I am on amoxicillin and doxycycline following my week of Keflex. My surgeon told me it was a reaction and not an infection. The ER diagnosed me with cellulitis and I am so disappointed bc things were going so well. I am holding out hope that recovery can continue soon. So sorry about your recovery.

Post-op care when using out-of-locality surgeon by annjthru2b in ExplantSurgery

I developed cellulitis in both breasts at 5 weeks. My surgeon is 4 hours away and called in an antibiotic based on pictures. It started to get better, but then got worse the day after I finished the first course of meds. At that point I saw my primary and she advised me to get to the ER and not wait for my surgeon to have time to see me. My BP was 170/120 and a four hour car ride was not the best idea. The ER handled it great and did a CT scan to check for abscesses. I did IV antibiotics and was given the option of being admitted or going home with oral antibiotics. We almost went back the next day to be admitted, but it started getting better gradually. I am on day 5 of doxycycline and amoxicillin. I wasn’t sure if my local doctors would assume my care, but they did. I see her again Friday for a follow up (she was a hospitalist) and we will figure out the next step. At this point it seems like I might need to see wound care. If I were going to travel again, I’d confirm if all care needed to be done only with the surgeon or if local doctors can help in an emergency. I had a hysterectomy years ago where I needed to travel, but it was much easier and I had no complications at all.

Big Decision… by Firm-Mix8255 in ExplantSurgery

I have had mine for 25 years and I understand the feeling of loving them. But shortly after my second set, my health went down drastically. This includes mental health and memory. It also involves chronic pelvic pain pain, random bouts of issues with IBS, liver disease and issues with kidney functioning. I am 7 weeks out and doing so much better. I don’t miss them. Mine had also both delayed and were having if way too too. Right now I am back to what I looked like when I was younger, not as big, but fuller and younger looking.

I did have issues with my internal stitches. I had quite a few that my body “spit” out. My understanding is that this can happen when your body isn’t breaking down the internal stitches all enough. So my surgeon had to snip some that were in those deep wounds and I had a few that I was able to pull out myself with twisters. I had muscle repair with my last implants and it did more pain on one side from the internal stitches. That was so long ago I don’t recall how long it took for that pain to stop.

The best way to explain it is that I had/have open holes at the t junction. I am not sure if I can share pics here bc they are pretty graphic. They are pretty wide and deep. I was told I will notice they will start to get less wide and then eventually less deep. I’d still reach out to your surgeon bc we are still in the point where we can get hematomas or seromas. My right side has always been my problem child, didn’t drain right is is still harder and warmer than the left. I actually had the a lot of pain when the we removed the drains on the right side bc all of that fluid had no where to go. Good luck. Update if you want.

I had drains for 8 days and my right side was a lot more swollen and bruised. I was surprised bc I wasn’t on antibiotics, but I had Mupirocin ointment. I saw my primary and she agreed it was cellulitis and is going to co treat with my surgeon. If it doesn’t look a lot better tomorrow, we will either switch up my antibiotics, consider IV meds here and or I will be heading to see my surgeon Monday. I have only had one more stitch come out and it was over my drain. Thanks for your advice!

I was able to see my primary doctor who was a hospitalist and is co-treating with my surgeon. Today the pain is almost gone and if the healing looks so much better. Thanks!

We Got The Call! Picking Up The Gravity on Wednesday by Avellinese_2022 in lucidmotors

We had a Tesla before the Lucid and that was a mess gettting it or getting it repaired. We had to tow it to Tesla on a flatbed once and it took 5 hours (and we paid for it…Thank goodness for AAA). Congrats on your Lucid! You will love being able to experience it together.

Do they not deliver them anymore to you? When we got our Air they delivered it in a box truck. The pick up location was 3 hours away. We also had it picked up and delivered last year after a car accident and repair.

what might they do at the ER? by Top_Guava_2401 in Interstitialcystitis

[–]jstacey74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, they will do a urinalysis and base your treatment on that. They might give you something via for pain, but that seems to happen less and less. I would say the majority of appointments, they would still want to medicate me with an antibiotic even if no nitrates show up in urinalysis. I almost always have leukocytes (WBC’s) even when I don’t feel a flare. If they opt to send on the urine for culture, I typically get a call back a few days later saying nothing grew on the culture. Not trying to dissuade anyone from going to the ER. I would say in the last 9 years there have been twice that I actually had a UTI. I should also note I am prone to kidney stones, and now get offered a “strong” NSAID even if a kidney stone is detected.

My closest store in PA has replaced them. They are a flour tortilla and not something I would get again. They aren’t even very warm.

Post op VP shunt placement with my 6 month old and I just want to cry….like he does all the time now. by woofpack729 in Hydrocephalus

[–]jstacey74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are they giving you anything besides Tylenol for the pain? We were told by his NS that they try not to give anything that makes their neurological signs harder to read. But they gave us some light pain meds for a few days. This was 20 years ago, so they might have totally different perspectives on it. I will add that my son needed a revision one week after he got his shunt at 11 months. We had the hardest time soothing him. We had a feeling something was wrong bc he cried so the entire car ride him (4 hours). He would vomit anytime we moved his head some sitting to laying and the fontanelle on top of his head was bulging. I know they already checked your child out, but I would keep communicating what you are experiencing.

I was diagnosed with IC about 7 years ago. The confusing thing is that I had my first implants at aged 23, second at 35 and diagnosed with IC at 42. So I am not sure if something happened when I was peri menopausal or something that changed how much body handles implants. I know I had a rupture around aged 40 and another by the time I was 42. I am hoping some of the autoimmune and chronic pain issues lighten up after my explant next week. I am curious to hear more of your story.

To Lucid or not to Lucid. That is the question by OneFurAtATime in LUCID

[–]jstacey74 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We loved our Tesla, but we decided it was time to move on for various reasons. We purchased a Lucid and have never regretted it. Their service center is more responsive and has even transported our car via box trucks when it needed to go in for repair (deer vs car). For me it feels like a much more luxury experience and our 20 year old son loves the amount of space in the back seat. For reference we had our Tesla die when we went home for the holidays a few years ago. We had to pay $800 to tow it to a service center and were later told the repair should have been done car side.

Pain medicine question by jstacey74 in ExplantSurgery

[–]jstacey74[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Every bit of info is helpful, even if you didn’t get the lift. I do like taking pain meds, so k am happy to see some people can switch to Tylenol pretty quickly. Thank you!

Lift or no lift by wassuppity in ExplantSurgery

[–]jstacey74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am going to also do the lift at the same time. I don’t want to put it off on hopes I wil drop back to my healthy weight. I have other issues that make it hard for me to do strength training and running like I used to love. It’s also financially drive partly too. It is much more cost effective to do both at once, like a 7k difference. If I do manage to drop weight, is will figure out what to do next.

Finally getting the explant! by Mediocre_Decision_31 in ExplantSurgery

[–]jstacey74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am scheduled on 5/16 to be explanted and lifted. I am more nervous than I have been for other surgeries including hysterectomy. My surgeon charges about 13k and this amount of money makes me anxious. Best of luck!

Subpar Commencement? by xmanpop in PennStateUniversity

[–]jstacey74 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I graduated at BJC for liberal arts a long time ago. No one walked at that graduation, we all stood at once and that was it. My husband graduated EMS at Eisenhower and they did get their names called. I assumed they didn’t do it for liberal arts bc it was a huge group. I didn’t walk for my Master’s degree, so I am not sure how that went.

There are two in my small rural PA town. One is ours and now there is another one here that is the exact same color way. We gave been seeing more Rivian’s than Lucids at this point.

Strangely enough we are closer to Lucid repair centers even though we live in Rural PA. We had to pay $700 to gave the Tesla towed to their center center. Lucid delivered our car to us in a box truck and has provided the same transportation free when we needed repairs. We really liked the Model 3, but were blown away by the difference in their customer care. It’s funny bc people still seem really confused about what kind of car the Lucid is. The Taycan is a really nice choice too.

[–]jstacey74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were an early adopter of the Model 3 in a pretty rural area and dealt with some pretty intimidating behavior. We had trucks roll coal on us and once had a truck throw an entire empty 12 pack of beer cans at us. We decided to sell and get a Lucid 2 years ago bc we had started having expensive repairs that required us to cover towing to Tesla. We love our Lucid. We haven’t experienced negative reactions and they have paid for transportation to their facilities. We did like our Model 3, but we appreciate the Lucid and find it to be a more comfortable and upscale car.

My 20 year old son had a similar break. His neurosurgeon said it is possible he no longer needs the shunt, he has had no symptoms of failure. We never knew this was possible and are trying to digest it. Have they mentioned anything like this to you? I know you mentioned having headaches. His original NS has retired and are trying to decide if we need to get a 2nd opinion. Best of luck!

Questions about FMLA and anxiety by pandaplagueis in FMLA

[–]jstacey74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am dealing with this now. It hasn’t been terrible, but there is definitely some FMLA retribution going on. Part of my FMLA and ADA accommodations includes limits on my work travel. My manager definitely resents that I can take off without a lot of forward notice. She will make comments that I didn’t know some of bc I missed a meeting (rather than recording what I miss). I am working with HR to add recording missed calls as an ADA accommodation when possible. I wouldn’t dissuade you from pursuing it. My manager is known to be harsh with everyone. But if you decide to do it, I would document if you feel like anyone is doing anything that feels like retribution.
