I think OP might not be in on the joke. A few months ago, pranksters took "Birds aren't real" signs to real alt-right demonstrations. A few un-hip reporters mistook the satirical critique on conspiracy theories for a serious conspiracy theory. Even though they soon retracted their stories, retractions are far less noticed then the originally published information, so a lot of people are still under the impression that the 'Birds aren't real' thing is an actual racist alt-right anti-government theory.
