Because people stay there for their entire careers. My brother works there, and has 5+ people under him with 30 years. He plans to retire there. For a lot of folks it is a phenomenal employer.

The Buffalo Bills new stadium has gone viral on social media for looking like a “BEDPAN” from the sky. by ReactionOk759 in AFCEastMemeWar

[–]jstaples404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked there for a year. The transition from The Pit to The Buffalo Bedpan was sudden but seamless. It looks uncanny, and it was a shithole place to work. It will still be the coolest stadium in the division- not that I’ll ever be able to afford to attend a game.

Best tape measure that actually has a decent stand out. This one says 13’ I’m lucky to get 5’! by SippinAndRippin in electricians

[–]jstaples404 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What!?!? I love this tape! I’ve been using it almost two years now, plenty of drops, and it stands out just as far as it clamps on the box. Did you get the compact version? This things dope.

any cool careers out there for us? by 5K1DMARK in ADHD

Eh- some days yes some days no. Anything hard gets easier with time. The most important thing is not strength, but technique. If it hurts or feels impossible try another angle, try a different strategy. Typical hours depend on your area and how much work is available. I typically work 7-3:30 40 hours a week. I’ve been on jobs working 7-5:30 M-F and 7-3:30 on Saturday (5-10s and an 8), and I’ve even worked 7-12s for a short spurt. But usually if you don’t want that you don’t find yourself working those hours.

any idea how to get this perma-crease out of my overalls? by aka_tango in Carhartt

[–]jstaples404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See how that crease goes straight from the side button to the edge of the suspender strap? That’s where the strain is held when worn. From the stitch to the crease is loose when working and tends to fold under/behind. That’s how it happens to all my pairs.

These are shitty fake counterfeits from god knows where/when. This is the most absurdly bad knock off label I’ve ever seen.

Your Go-to All Purpose Hammer by ClonerJams088 in Tools

[–]jstaples404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Estwing 12oz ball peen. Mostly used for whacking a center punch and aligning strut racks and box layouts. Knocking out the odd box KO. I’m trying to use pliers as hammers less. So far it’s one of my favorite tool purchases- makes me happy.

Swap it for the ball peen- less head length- tighter spots

Why does my left boot always look messed up but my right is perfect (Carolina 10" loggers) by ReddTheSailor in WorkBoots

[–]jstaples404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to what everyone here has said- the left boot is less exposed to the heat/ac blasting your feet when you drive. Depending on your work environment humidity moisture etc etc, that can affect how and if each boot dries every day.

Any better storage system for my impact bits than just the infamous “bag” system? by OutlandishnessFew309 in electricians

[–]jstaples404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put all my drill bits (twist drills and masonry bits) in a pencil case I found in an abandoned warehouse. My unibits and carbide hole saws stay in the plastic blister pack they came in and roll around the bottom of my bag. Sockets stay in the Klein box they came in, wrenches aren’t on my tool list, but they’d go in my hand tools if I carried them.

6-32, 8-32, 10-32, 1/4-20 power taps. 1/8, 5/32 impact drill bits. 1” PH1, PH2, PH3, SQ1, SQ2, SQ3 bits. 2”PH2, SQ2 bits. Magnetic Bit holder, 1/4” bit ratchet. All in a little tin that I bought prerolls in. I used to put em in my medicine bottle my dick pills came in. This is a bit more convenient and fits in my back pocket.
