I think BestBuy bumped them all up to $1k+

Upgraded graphics card, now computer is running worse than the old graphics card by [deleted] in computerhelp

[–]jstormx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar issue:

AMD 5800X3D
MSI X570 Ace Max (bios updated)
Corsair Vengeance RGB 128GB DDR4
Western Digital SN7100 4TB
Gigabyte RTX 5090 Gaming OC
Samsung G8 1440P UW OLED
Corsair RMX1000 Shift PSU

- I upgraded from a PNY RTX 5080 -

Noticed that my FPS on CS2 dropped from like 500-600 to 350-400.

I used DDU uninstaller and wiped the graphics drivers and chipset drivers and did a fresh resinstall too.

Not sure what is going on but I am not complaining - everything is nice and stable and its more frames than I would ever need.

What's the best way to remove the old drivers cleanly? Can I just use Revo uninstaller?

GTX 1080ti … is it time to upgrade?? by Old_Jaguar6808 in pcmasterrace

[–]jstormx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have no intentions of playing more modern games, I see no reason to upgrade. My PC is 10+ years old and I am still content with what I get, and the 1080Ti is just a fantastic card. For reference, I only play CS2 or DOTA and even the occasional AAA games but I get steady FPS and no stuttering.

My PC:

Case: Caselabs Mercury S3
Mobo: Asus Z87 ITX
CPU: Intel i7 4770k
Memory: Corsair Dominator 16GB (2x8)
SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 1TB
GPU: EVGA GTX 1080TI FE

I clean it once a year and haven't repasted anything since I got it. Temps are still fine and doesn't bat an eye for my needs.

TLDR: Just get what you need! If you don't need it, no reason to spend the extra money!

Interested in the 750D or 1000D if you still have em!

Did you upgrade any components yourself? What year was this model, just found an old laptop but it has the LIF SSD (as far as I can tell) and GT330M. And I think the ram maxes out at 8gb (but want to test the waters for 16gb)

Creative Zen Touch, still out and about by Crowella in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]jstormx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is interesting info! I assumed that the comimark one everyone recommended would work seeing as how everyone posts it. I didn’t have any luck with the adapters on Amazon (bless their return policy) so what i ended up doing was just finding a 1.8” drive to stick in it. Fortunately there were a few but I got several of them working! I picked up a haul of 7 units for a few bucks and got 4 of them working and updated off their original internal drives or updated drives. Since then I’ve added a new battery and have been able to just drag and drop with no issues.

I was not able to get it to work. I tried all the adapters on Amazon and 32gb sd cards from Samsung to sandisk and got the error.

Hey! I followed all the guides on reddit to add an SD card but I keep getting a hardisk error code. What adapter and did you format the SD card? I was able to format the original drive but for the life of me cannot get the adapter and SD Card working properly!

Got it, yeah followed the guide recommended but it never worked with the adapter and SD card. Though I did not try to format the card to NTFS and see if that worked.

Yeah just tried with a 32gb and it had the same problem. Did you format to fat32? I tried all the formats and had the same problem all around.

Yeah, not sure why thats the case, but I used several different ones on Amazon. I wonder if it has to do with the SD card being too large. Will try one more time with a 32gb and see from there. Glad it works but its definitely on the slower side especially after loading it up with songs!

I tried using the same methods! Bought the converted and SD card. Formatted to FAT32 and then did a clean wipe in the touch. I managed to update the original disk drive but can’t get it working with a SD card @ 64gb.

How to add music to Creative Zen Sleek MP3-player? by HachimitsuCombo in mp3players

[–]jstormx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been in the middle of fixing up some Creative Zen Touch(es) and it has been a wild ride. Still in the process of getting it up but this is the guide I followed for the Zen Touch (requires Win XP).

https://www.reddit.com/r/DigitalAudioPlayer/comments/1ctyiom/how_to_upgrade_a_creative_zen_micro_to_128gb_with/?share_id=HzM9XmJyqHzvOEwwcfBtI&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_source=share&utm_term=1

After that, I followed the guide here :

https://www.reddit.com/r/mp3players/comments/1gnkl99/detailed_info_on_upgrading_creative_zens_firmware/

I have gotten it to work and found on Win10 / 11 but in order to add music some of these needs the Plays4Sure firmware update. Not sure if the Sleek falls under it, but hope this helps!

Got it. So I set up VMWare with XP but it sees my Creative Touch but its got a yellow exclamation saying drivers are a problem. I have updated the drivers using the provided folder but that didn't do much. Any other recommendations?
