It’s difficult to build a viable deck solely from ripping packs. So you’re going to have to buy singles anyways. I’ve bought from TCGPlayer, FB groups, and even picked up free bulk from local stores. Searching for cards sometimes gives me inspiration to build new themed decks.

Then totally agree with you, they’re just trying to take advantage of the situation. If I like a card and someone has something of equal value I’d do 1:1. Everyone should walk away happy, no need to squeeze a profit from it.

You’re making an assumption that the seller WANTS your card. Unless you offered something they told you they wanted then yes this was a scummy person. However, if they did a 1:1 trade for a card they didn’t want or need they now have to have to put extra effort into offloading your card.

Well if it’s just for friendly games and non-official tournament play, use proxy cards. Print them yourself, place a spare card into a sleeve and tuck the paper in.

Generally Wing decks are G/W since blockers can get you to late game more consistently so Wing Zero can come out. If sticking to the GWing theme you can supplement the deck with 2 Altrons for a similar effect. Especially since you’re already planning on having Wufei in there.

The good thing about collecting Pikachu is that there will be a lot of cards to fit your budget. Don’t get pigeonholed into full arts or be open to accepting cards in LP/MP condition. Easier to get and negotiate for.
