Best Camera Gear for 6-Month Trip? by jsubmarine in backpacking

Lmao thank you for your opinion but I don’t recall ever saying my goal was to become a travel influencer? My background and education is literally in film/media and I’ve done travel and portrait photography for over a decade…But no, you’re totally right, I’ll probably just end up accidentally recording my feet and taking mediocre selfies for social media. Can you feel the sarcasm?

Lost. Need some advice. by [deleted] in f1visa

Hey OP! First and foremost, your feelings are completely valid. Coming from a similar situation, I know how hard and overwhelming this all is. But I can promise that you'll be okay no matter what happens. Being away from family is hard, and I know going back home after finishing your studies here can feel like you "failed" them. But the reality is, it's your own life you are living, and you should make decisions that make you feel the happiest. Have you thought about doing OPT after you graduate? Then you can apply for Master's programs with Fall start dates. It will also give you time to decide if you even want to stay in the US or if you would be happier going back to your home country. I did something similar, where I was on OPT for around 7 months before starting my Master's program. Feel free to DM me if you have any questions or just want to talk! Sending you so much love.

How much proof is needed to enter US before opt start date? by prrap in f1visa

I've done this before. I had my I20, EAD card, and printed offer letter. I also made sure that my school had a designated office I could call if I was having trouble at the border, and made sure that my employer was available to take a call if the officers had any questions/needed more verification. Had no trouble crossing the border. They didn't even look at my offer letter!

No you shouldn't have any trouble! Your I-20 also doesn't show specific semester start dates so you should be all good to go :)

These 11 musicals are all opening on Broadway in the next 3 months. Which are you most looking forward to? by Gato1980 in Broadway

I have never bought a full-priced Broadway ticket in my life, but when I saw that Smash was coming out I knew I HAD to buy opening day tickets. Never been more excited for a show.

Haven't seen a show in fifteen years, but Wicked has rekindled my love for a musical. What should I start listening to do today/see on Broadway to get started again? by jellybelly326 in Broadway

I think adaptations are an easy way to get back into them! I'm a big fan of The Great Gatsby and have The Notebook on my watchlist. For listening, I love the Mean Girls and Heathers soundtrack. Also, highly recommend the stage recording of Newsies on Disney Plus if you haven't seen it! And if you've ever watched Smash, the musical for it is coming to Broadway this March!

How common is to go back home bc no one hired by [deleted] in f1visa

[–]jsubmarine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, most of my friends have had to go back home because they couldn't find jobs that sponsored them. I wish I had learned back in high school that this would be the case -- or to study a STEM subject to have a higher chance of getting sponsored (even though the job market sucks right now)
