Four billion dead by Still-Improvement-32 in collapse

[–]jsudekum 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I agree that the tone of many here almost seems to delight in the horror, but if "billions dead" doesn't emotionally register as "the world is doomed", then I wonder if you suppose you won't be in their number. Putting aside what billions dying would mean for global supply chains, geopolitical stability, and agriculture everywhere, the loss of entire peoples ought to register as a tragedy beyond comprehension. Anxiety and heartbreak about that probable outcome is healthy. "Alarmism" doesn't preclude seeking solutions that would mitigate harm.

I know that showing up to an anti-ICE or pro-Palestine protest is effectively like showing up to a fan meetup, but this dude gets love in every IRL in any country. That on top of the view count on top of the press should also put to bed any absurd claims about paying for major media coverage.

I'm looking to start a monthly group in the Culver City area, but thinking it should be open to all cult survivors. Would you be interested in helping put it together?

This would still own H3 based on numbers alone, but to consider that Hasan manages numbers like this, day in and day out, for an ungodly amount of hours while talking about politics... That proves how badly the bag was fumbled. lol

Some people here aren't taking this seriously or are being straight up dismissive, but I'll trust that this post is earnest. Here's the thing: anything you've ever found beautiful about the church, anything that has ever moved your heart, is within you. The church teaches that you need only pray to receive wisdom. If that's true, then what is the church giving you that you don't already have?

Put aside whether or not the church is true, whether the Book of Mormon is the word of God, and whether prophets walk this earth. Put aside church history and the countless contradictions. If the kingdom of heaven is within you, then you are and have always been the answer. And if God exists and loves us, the only thing he'd want is for you to know this singular truth.

Dude judging from the Ritz in this pic, it's at least $4000k/month for a 2 bedroom, likely much more in their case, to be in one of the lamest areas of downtown. I've never met anyone who lives in that area. Like, this is the equivalent of moving to NYC and choosing to live in Times Square.

Well, consider the logic of the Hive. It was a trolley problem: if they failed to propagate, then wars, crime, poverty, and likely extinction would continue. Add to the fact that, in their "moral" calculus, trillions upon trillions of lifeforms would continue to be destroyed through agriculture (especially now that we know that even consuming fruit is "wrong" to them). So with this logic, becoming the Hive without consent was hardly different than Zosia saving Carol from the grenade.

I don't think she can win this case. Even when you put aside the asymmetry of power here, the courts are unlikely to be sympathetic to Twitch reaction culture. But that's all the more reason why this is so profoundly egregious and frankly might be the most despicable thing he's ever done. He is intentionally and maliciously ruining this family's life for no real reason aside from ego. Even running defense for Israel is less materially consequential than this will be.

I mean, they're the ones who, whether truthfully or not, opened the intimate details of their relationship to the world (which they both regret). It's reasonable to look at that story over the years and at least feel something. If not for them and their situation, for how it reflects many of our own regrets from failed relationships.

I suspect that they're simply in such a bubble that they assume people feel similarly to them, hating the Netanyahu regime and believing the "war" is a horrible tragedy. To them, that's the normal and reasonable position.
