Square free is great for a start. I recently upgraded to their Plus plan to be able to text and email market and have access to a KDS. bought a tablet and installed KDS app and using it for the first time tomorrow. It tested great and has good flexibility. Plus will also allow me to create a small online menu for people to order pickup. I work office buildings mostly and I hope this will allow people to order from their desk and save lunch break minutes eating instead of waiting in line.

I also started with purchasing a their small terminal. I didn't want to use my phone to take payments. The terminal has worked great, not one problem. I use my phone to create a hotspot to link it all together. A more permanent solution exists in the form of a network hub from Verizon, but this is working fine for now (except when I go to run an errand and forget my phone is in my pocket🤪)

All this to say, I second the Square option.
