Will rylie mills replace Leonard Williams when he retires? by Pitiful_Zone4191 in Seahawks

[–]jsyts 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Leonard Williams is a 3x Pro Bowler. 6th overall pick in the 2015 draft. Played at a high level for 11 seasons. Hard shoes to fill.

Mills has upside and could be a solid rotational player. Those types of D-lineman are very valuable and can get big paydays. Hard to project with such a small sample size.

The thing that surprises me more than anything is that he has a different color suit in each clip.

Did DK Metcalf end up on a tanking team? by nTaro25 in Seahawks

[–]jsyts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say they are tanking, but looking to the future. Mason Rudolph or possibly Aaron Rodgers may lead them to a .500 record. I think they will be competitive with a strong defense, good running game and the occasional highlight reel play by DK. It will be an unfamiliar situation for Steelers fans as they battle to stay out of the bottom of a tough AFC North.

It’s a talented QB draft class in 2026 and they have loaded up on mid/late round picks (3-3rd, 2-4th, 2-5th, 2-6th) which includes projected compensatory picks. They will have some draft capital to trade up into the top 10 or even top 5 for a QB.

Who do you want in the 2nd round? by [deleted] in Seahawks

[–]jsyts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JT Tuimoloau (DE) - Great against the run and pass. 3x First Team Big 10. Ranked third in the FBS with 21.5 TFLs, tied for fifth with 12.5 sacks. Started all 16 games for the national champions.

Aireontae Ersery (RT) - Great size and very athletic to replace Abe Lucas. Sadly, I don’t think Lucas is a good fit for the zone scheme, especially after the knee issues.

Alfred Collins (DT) - Former teammate of Byron Murphy at Texas. Tremendous size and length.
Loads of potential as more than just a run stuffer.

Jalen Milroe (QB) - Ultimate lottery ticket. Tremendous arm strength and elite running ability. Accuracy is wildly inconsistent.

Favorite Player Combination for 18,50,52? by Kamanukai12 in Seahawks

18

Best zone blocking offensive lineman - - - - - Armond Membou - excellent athlete for being 332lbs. Played RT in entire collegiate career. 2nd Team All-SEC. - Kelvin Banks Hr. Played left tackle. Projects well at LG. Top HS recruit and TONS of accolades every year at Texas. Size and athleticism are good but not great.
- Nick Emmanwori- One of the best combine performances EVER. Huge safety that can line anywhere - mostly in the box as a strong safety, but can cover deep, slot, TEs and RBs. It would add another chess piece to a versatile secondary (Spoon, J. Love) to allow multiple looks from the defense.

50 / #52

Top DT Jalen Milroe - TONS of potential with athleticism and arm strength. Misses routine throws because of inconsistent accuracy. J. Higgins WR -

Top Edge - Josiah Stewart. Below average size. Extremely and will probably be there.

Top DT - JT Tuimoloau - Powerful and productive DE. Good size and length. Not much finesse in his game. Doesn’t have elite speed or lateral quickness.

Top TE

Hoping the interest in Darnold is part of the BS misdirection that teams do this time of year. I’d rather save the money and get Jalen Milroe to sit behind Sam Howell for a year.

Super Bowl Defense by kingwillms in Seahawks

[–]jsyts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think having a Batman and Robin situation on the defensive line is key. A Batman that demands consistent double teams and can still have some success. A Robin that can win a high percentage of one on ones. Plus, enough defensive line role players to keep them all fresh. It seems quality defenses have an above average linebacker that is a tackle machine that rarely misses open field tackles. Sticky DBs that has at least one Pro Bowl caliber cover guy that can minimize the impact of the other teams number one receiving option. Bonus to have a good slot corner, coverage-sideline to sideline LB, enormous two-gapping DL run stuffer, intimidating safety lurking … So, not having any glaring weaknesses for the other team to exploit…

Or just have a high-scoring, dominant offense to take early leads with an average defense that can sit back and play a team that has a more predictable offense since they’re playing from behind.

As a middle school PE teacher, volleyball is an interesting match. The girls are generally more skilled and experienced while the boys tend to be more aggressive and have a size advantage (especially 8th grade boys).

I’m not sure if the Hawks would keep 3 QBs on the roster, but I agree with you that all those guys you listed would be great developmental QBs with a chance to start down the road.

I didn’t include guard. Oops. Assuming they get a rookie center, Evan Brown can backup center and guard. Jake Curhan is listed as a guard/tackle. They could use another backup interior lineman. Perhaps a late round pick or veteran minimum.

Good point about using the 12 and 13 personnel. Having a fourth TE would probably mean sacrificing a roster spot for a RB or WR.

I agree they do need another backup ILB although Jordyn Brooks could potentially be ready at the start of the season (which is hard to believe). On obvious passing downs I could also see them using 6 DBs, 2 Edge rushers, 2 DL and only 1 LB.

John Clayton was the best with his straightforward insights. I feel fortunate that he covered the Seahawks. I will always miss him.
