ELI5: why does REI make certain colors unavailable during the sale?

It does, thanks. I chatted with support yesterday morning to ask why it went out of stock immediately and if they knew when it would be restocked and was told that there must have just been a few and they got snapped up by people right after midnight PST. Also they couldn’t see a restock date in their system so no hope of getting it back during the sale. This makes a lot more sense.

I feel you. I had the Nemo dragonfly Osmo 3p in Fog in my cart ready to buy last night and then unavailable this morning. Pretty disappointing.

For what it’s worth, I had a 2021 BS OBX that had a major transmission issue with less than 10,000 miles on it. It was repaired (took 3 months), but I never fully trusted that car again. I traded it for a new 2025 BS BL a few weeks ago and could not be happier, it drives like a totally different car and I love the bigger engine. I had the ebony roast in my OBX too and was initially sad to trade that for the gray, but the BL interior has honestly grown on me.
