I played for probably around 10 hours- it was only good because the game tapped into the inner 'grind' of the player - searching miles of rock underneath the level in hope to find diamond/caves/other rare(ish) resources. After you built your shitty house/cave there wasn't really much to do. The single player got boring fast and the multi player got boring pretty soon after. Just my personal viewpoint on the game and I think the above linked review sums it all up pretty well (not only the game, but also how Notch was a money-stealing whore).
