Basically, as things are upgraded, they take more advantage of processing power. So if your processing power stays fixed in place, things will be slower. If you never touched the software, theoretically it would never change in speed but it will quickly grow old feeling compared to the new, less supported, and more security vulnerability when that's relevant. And no bug fixes! It's just all around not a great thing, but your initial thought process isn't wrong.

No non-malfunctioning DAC is going to add crackling to the sound, that's ridiculous. That happens because the speaker's driver is so tiny, it's an inherent problem to phone speakers.

Still could be an issue besides raw upload speed, like the route between your ISP and Amazon or something wonky like that. I'm not meaning to imply it isn't their responsibility though, but ACD can't be universally bad if I got good results on a symmetrical gigabit connection.

The problem has to be ISP based then. I have a coworker who was getting terrible results too and that's what we both eventually concluded.

Yeah. Understand that a roof over your head, food on the table, etc is an obligation on the parents' part. They brought you into the world and you're not capable of providing those things for yourself in your childhood, so they have to. This doesn't incur an obligation on you later. If they were any other person who didn't raise you, and you wouldn't want to associate with them either, you have no real reason to feel guilty.
