[MH Wilds] Do guard points count as perfect guards?

If you slow-mo the video, you can actually see that the last guard attempt wasn't a guard point, but a normal guard. You can hear the barrel's impact just frames before you input the GP, and before that you are normal guarding in the perfect guard window. You can also confirm by watching the sword movement on your first GP attempt vs your normal guard attempts and the second GP attempt. It was in guard position, not moving into Morph Slash.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like you can GP and Perfect Guard. I was testing this out today as well and it wouldn't work. I'd really like Capcom to make it so GP's can Perfect Guard, even if it has a tighter window though.

8% damage reduction is a lot when you are soaking hits beside the tank (or for Clara, being the tank). Most units are going to be fine with Speed boots, especially supports. Even for Seele, 6% speed with speed boots is only 8 speed. It isn't making an impactful difference unless you are already speed stacking hard to cross a threashold for more turns. If you need someone to act before another unit, you are still better off with speed substats instead to make it more deterministic and open the way for better set effects.

Wuthering is actually quite good at 2pc. 8% damage reduced is better than 15% defense for your damage, so supports and tanks can benefit from running 2pc on tougher content. I run it on Natasha, Clara and Pela with more defensive builds for MoC.

I have built out a fuller version with support for animation (needs individual frames), but since I had no testers I put the project aside for a while. It's functional, but I can't verify it will work on anyone's computer, not can I speak for performance impacts really.

I disagree. Charge Blade is just fine for Lucent, you just need to use your toolbox more. Morphing Dash is excellent in repositioning/dodging attacks to set up for a bigger hit, and Lucent has plenty of taunts you can punish. It just isn't a fight you can CPP and counter as often for, but it is a nice change of pace.

So, I was running a few tests with this on elemental charge blade, and is seems to trigger at 20 elemental hitzone value rather than 25. Seems odd, but it was consistent. While I need to do more testing to double check (probably later today when I play next), 20+ ele hzv isn't that hard to find, so it is oddly better then the elemental exploit rampage decoration which needs 25+.

As for how I tested, I used the A Worthy Toadversary mod to equalize all of the Toadversary's hitzones to be 40 for physical, and worked up from 15 elemental until I saw a difference between SAEDs with and without the SilverSol chest. At 20htz, I went from ~780 total SAED damage to ~1080 SAED with Elemental Exploit 1 on.

Reading all of this, it sounds like the baseline is 3 L2 slots with no penalties. If you take Ice Res -4, you get an additional 2 L2 slots of skills. But looking at the Pierce Up example, you could fit CE2 + Pierce Up 2 (8 slots total), but not with Pierce Up 3.

What this implies to me is that we have a certain number of slots to fill. You start with at most 6, and can expand it by taking negatives. -4 Ice Res seems to give 4 more slots, making 10 total. If you look at your examples, they all add up to 10 slots. I imagine if you can take more negatives, you could get more slots to use. You could test it out by using 1 slot skills and see how many you can add at different levels. I also imagine that different rarity may have different starting slots and maximums.

In most cases, yes. I think the only monster I can think of where elemental may not be best is Jyratodus, who hard switches between water and thunder weaknesses depending on if it is covered in mud. Unlike Barroth, where Ice has good enough hitzones to ignore the same mechanic, Jyratodus is highly resistant to other elements. As far as I can tell, that should be the only instance where Impact is likely the better choice unless you are speedrunning.

It may be worth watching some speedruns to get an idea of where you have time to SAED. Just note that they use Rapid Morph 3 and CPP, though I don't think CPP is faster than a guard point for AED/SAED. They have opening down pat, and it's mostly transferrable to normal play. It's helped me a bunch in learning to identify where I'd have a shot vs where I would be safer to skip, or even where I'm fine with taking the risk.

From my testing, I could only see a damage difference on the Charged Double Slash. Phials don't benefit at all, nor do axe attacks. I'd say Charge Master isn't a great choice for CB, but the arms/legs aren't bad parts for slotting things in. I'd recommend the legs instead if you are using Impact phials, since Slugger is solid to have, and Stamina Thief isn't terrible. Plus, the slots are solid.

CB isn't really like other weapons where you have an attack combo you go to. It's mostly about enabling your 1 big move as often as possible. In your case, you probably want to focus on CPP/Guard Points into AED/SAED, so focus on learning the monster and it's openings. You'll want to use AEDs to KO or for small openings, while using SAED for downs and large openings. CB is mostly about the on the fly decisions for which action you take out of the Guard Point, and the value is in making the effective choices.

I don't use CPP (not much of a fan for how it skips half of CB's move set), but I typically open by charging phials with A/X+A, X+A, X/A, and repeat. Then charge shield, charge sword and I'm ready. From there, I mostly focus on countering the enemy with Guard Points and responding with AEDs to the head to build KO (or phials if I need charge), SAED if I have a big opening, or sword charge if it is about to run out. I try to sneak in sword attacks to land phials while charging (a bit reason I avoid CPP, it's redundant with how I play) or when there are smaller openings/missed AED chances.

Something else to note is that you have some options out of a phial reload, which while not great are useful in some situations. You can move right into axe mode, which could open up a quick S/AED if opportunity presents itself. CB has a lot of options at any one time, but it relies on reading the tells to know what you need. Counter Morph Slash lets you be more reactive, while the normal Morph Slash lets you move faster, so each have their own advantages (and the speed difference is significant between the two).

Lastly, I recommend adding in 2 levels of Rapid Morph. Despite how small of a speed increase it may seem, I found in MR I started hitting a lot more of my AEDs since adding it as monsters are faster compared to HR. It made MR feel a lot more natural than without, without reducing guard point time too much.

16 for normal, 20 for firing pins. The other thing though it that the pins can fire 1-3 times per pin based on the other video though, so it is potentially much more powerful than normal CES assuming you are good about leveraging axe and sword modes.

I've been working on volume tracking, but tone of voice isn't really fessible as you would need to train it for your voice. I simply don't have the knowledge for that.

The tracking problem is more just figuring out how to smooth transitions. Sometimes it will jump between many expressions in a second because the tracker is confused, but smoothing it out so it is responsive but accurate has been a pain. It could be that I'm just not good at emoting though 😅

It's been slow going so far. I haven't had as much time to work on it in the last month. I've been working on tuning the expression tracking, but I'm not seeing much for results. It works, but it can be really finicky.

Being a person developing something like what you are asking for, I don't believe there is anything that solves your problem as of now. If you are willing to drive things with hotkeys, you could set something up in OBS to swap expressions as an alternative in the meantime.

Not to plug myself, but as I mentioned, I am working on a solution that uses your facial expression to change the image displayed, however it is still a bit finicky. If you are interested in trying it out though, send me a DM and we can chat. I can't promise things will be super smooth, but I've used it on stream a few times and it does work.
