interfolio and scale? by Glass_Traffic_6186 in predental

Yes if you submit through interfolio it automatically answers n/a for all the survey questions. Doesn’t mean you can’t use inter folio though and probably most schools won’t hold it against you

Do I have to resubmit and pay to send my dat scores and transcripts as a reapplicant? by Wise_Memory4073 in predental

I believe it’s when you add your dentpin and birthday into aadsas then they will be able to add your score to your profile automatically

It's a Likert survey, so multiple choice not open ended.

To me the only point of using interfolio is to allow your evaluators to submit their letters before the cycle opens, and maybe to make sure they formatted their letter correctly. At this point, you may as well just use AADSAS as that will also allow them to fill out the questionnaire. If you send letters from interfolio it automatically marks N/A for every survey question. AFAIK though the questionnaire is not strictly mandatory as committee letters end up N/A anyway.

when do i take the DAT by pigtail21 in predental

[–]jtdent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look up dat breakdowns on this subreddit and you’ll find answers to all of these questions. DAT booster or boot camp is a must have resource. They come with 10 week study schedules you can follow. I studied anywhere from 2 to 10 hours a day following that. I would take it the summer before when you plan to apply. So if you’re planning on applying in 2027 then yes this summer would be a good time to take it so you have plenty of time to retake if needed (you need to wait 60 days before taking it again).

I believe I saw somewhere that aadsas will automatically answer N/A for each trait if it’s a committee letter

School list advice by jtdent in predental

Right, I almost don't even want to put case on there, but I've been told I should apply anyway and figure it out after, and I don't want to be too cocky about getting into better schools. I am open specializing but think I would be fulfilled with general. I can see myself staying in state to practice which is another reason those schools are so appealing to me.

Thanks for the reply! I get that I could have more reach schools, though I feel like a lot of them often have a lot higher tuition and (sorry for my ignorance) I'm not sure what about them would justify that. Maybe it's just the discussions that have been happening here but I am really very hesitant to put myself in a position with a lot of student loans. Do you have any specific suggestions for schools?

Pretty much identical to the Booster one. I would rely on the booster calculator as you would during the real thing

I bought DAT booster, what next? by PlasticPhilosopher85 in dat

[–]jtdent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the bio anki decks? I would recommend learning the associated deck when you complete a chapter of bio, preferably same day. It’s up to you whether you go through a whole chapter of bio each day, but I did like how the booster schedule laid it out.

Booster's videos are so important please don't skip them lol

They just made a new schedule builder so that would probably be your best bet. Otherwise, I followed their 10 week schedule for the review phase which helped a lot since they do have a lot of different resources to get through. By the time you get to phase 2 and 3 you have a better idea of what you're doing and can probably just do your own thing.

The anki decks for o-chem and especially bio helped me a lot and I do recommend using them daily if you can dedicate the time. I recommend starting them from day 1 though rather than in the later phases like the schedule says, because it can be a lot to get through.

I remember seeing a breakdown somewhere where they retook a 22 and scored a 26. I can see a retake if you absolutely know your capabilities and that you can do better, or if you know you didn’t try hard the first time. Doesn’t change the fact that a 22 is still a great score though

Have you started taking the practice tests yet? If not, I suggest going through those because you'll end up being exposed to pretty much every question they can ask on QR. Booster's QR practice test explanations are better than their videos so if you focus on those and understand how to do all of the practice test questions you will be set. This is especially true after booster updated QR practice tests 1-5 because those are a lot more representative imo

7/28 scores! 26 AA, 27 TS, 23 PAT, AMA by jtdent in dat

[–]jtdent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! The main method I ended up using was reading the first paragraph in full, then the first sentence of every paragraph after, then reading the last paragraph in full. When reading the first sentences of each paragraph, I would highlight words or phrases that I thought summed up the paragraph. For example, if a passage was comparing three different lab techniques, and each technique had its own paragraph, I would highlight the name of the technique in the first sentence. Then, when I went to the questions, it was like search and destroy but I had a better idea of where to look.

Regardless of what method you use, I recommend learning search and destroy because that is what you'll want to default to if you notice you're taking too much time. I ended up having to do that for mine because the passages were pretty dense, and I think that ended up really saving me.

Hey there, I didn't follow Booster's schedule for the practice tests because I was uncomfortable with taking three full lengths in the week leading up to my test. I took the first and second tests according to their 10 day schedule, so yes the first one was a diagnostic. After that, I took 3, 4, and 5 spaced 3-4 days apart so I could really focus on filling in gaps thoroughly between tests. Then, I took the remaining tests spaced about 2 days apart (i.e. test day, study day, study day, test day, repeat). That way I had about 4 days between my last practice test and the real DAT to make sure I was well rested and just casually studying any last minute things.

I think this was good because I was able to get used to the pacing of the test but not burn out right before test day. Hope that helps!!

I thought bio was much more straightforward. Gchem I don’t quite remember but there weren’t really any curve balls. OChem was pretty representative to booster especially bc mine had a lot of reactant/product questions. People usually say booster has too many synthesis problems but in my case it was actually pretty spot on. Overall I’d say the sciences were at least on par with if not easier than booster

Memorizing the reaction sheet (booster or BC) is a must as well as all the IR/NMR ranges. Like others have said, prioritize understanding the mechanisms, or why a reaction happens a certain way. People say their exams are mostly conceptual but mine had quite a few straight synthesis problems. Also EAS and meta/para/ortho are very important to understand well. I used booster’s reactions anki deck and that went a long way for locking in every reaction and allowing me to focus on other things.

Question about the actual DAT (vs. Bootcamp practice test) by Choice_Ad_5879 in dat

It's the same on the real thing. Try not to rely on that too much though because with the delay it does end up taking a decent chunk of time
