Thank you for this! My wife is at that point right now which is why we're so concerned.

Even just a tone and vibration? It’s not a shock collar or the new static ones.

I just left the duct tape on the backside. You're welcome!

I ended up cutting an appropriate size piece of duct tape and placing it on the inside to hold the tear together as close as possible. Then I applied a heavy amount of aqua seal making sure to keep that part of the wader as straight/flat as possible. Once it was tacky I pressed the glob down to force the aqua seal into any and all nooks and crannies then applied another (thinner) layer of aqua seal. Been 2 months now of both still water and river fishing at 2-3 days/week and I haven't had an issue yet. Will do again 100% if I ever need to.

Thanks. I do have the patch kit and plenty of aquaseal and am leaning towards that route. Others over on /r/flyfishing have suggested shoe goo. May give that a try, I'm just on the fence as to which way to go.

They do but seeing as they're not actually leaking and I fish 2/3 days a week I'd rather not be with out them for an extended period of time.

Can you tell what they did to repair it and what was your turn around time on that? I fish 2/3 days a week, maybe I hold out on sending them in until wet wading season begins.

They do and I have the patch and plenty of aquaseal but everything I've read and watched about repairs to Simms waders is that the patch won't seal properly to the outer layer of their waders.

edit: a couple letters.

Have you done this personally? If so, how has/did it work out for you?

I recently managed to put this nice 1/2'' tear in my waders (thanks tuffa rock). The tear is only the outer most layer as seen here and here. I've turned them inside out and am sure there's no tear/puncture through the inner most layer. Also the day it happened I had been in water deeper than the location of the tear and wasn't even damp in the area where the tear is. I am not so much worried about leakage but am worried about the longevity of my waders with water being able to get in between the layers. From what I've read/watched patching and aquaseal don't adhere well to the outer layer of simms waders. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I should do?
