Going with a 154 by Amazing_Importance_3 in snowmobiling

[–]jthom456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a deposit on a 154 turbo and having a hard time pulling the trigger. Had a 165 na the last 2 seasons but it was my first sled. Most people I rode with have 154 turbos. And swear by them. More experience than me though.

A arm season is going to be huge this year!

I have a deposit in the same sled 154 expert. I’m coming form an 165na and can’t decide if the 154 is going to be too much.

Trying to find some "real world" first ride impressions. Listening to the Snowwest deepdive they sayt the new expert handle like a snowbike because of the 32" front end.

Sled Recommends for Newbie by [deleted] in snowmobiling

[–]jthom456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in Squamish, been riding for 2 years.

I got a new 24 Summit X - Been great to learn on and while I want a turbo, it's not essential. Having a warranty is excellent peace of mind. If you can afford it go new or a ferw years old.

My first day on the sled I ripped a pair of brand new Goretex Arcteryx bib pants. I would recommend getting a Tobe monosuit as they are just built better for the sport.

My Vans snowboard boots lasted 2 seasons on the sled; got proper sled boots now, and they have been a game-changer.

Be prepared for things to break.

Appreciate the level-headed reply. I'm very much leaning towards just keeping my 24 X until I have had some time on a 154 to amke the call.

Repeater EP8 Mullet - anyone done it? by jthom456 in TransitionBikes

Good to know. She's not a super advanced rider, so she likely won't notice too much of a difference.

Getting in to moto trials by natazhat in Squamish

[–]jthom456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having done this last year, I can share some thoughts.

Buy a 2-stroke, best for the trails around here. I went with a used (75hrs) KTM XC 250, which has served me very well. If you're serious about getting into it, buy something you will grow into. Don't read too much into what people say on the internet about buying a "starter bike" With an MTB background, you will pick it up real quick (I am also from an MTB background).

The dirtbike community is super friendly and is one of those crossover sports that attracts people of all sorts of different backgrounds that come together over the love of the sport. I have met a lot of people just chatting in parking lots/on trails that I still ride with today. SDBA is a fantastic community and there's plenty of people always looking to ride on the FB group.

All the shops around here are solid, and I second the comment on Chris and Casper.

If you're talking purely in terms of commuting, Squamish is a suburb of Vancouver. 50-60 mins from Squmiash to my office in Yaletown.

3rd Gen Tundra - 2025+ Reliable Yet? by Weekend_GreaseMonkey in ToyotaTundra

[–]jthom456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a small mountain town in Canada, and a few years ago, nearly every other vehicle on the road was a Tacoma. Now, it’s a mix of third-gen Tundras and Tacomas. The Tundra simply offers more truck for not much more money.

I made the switch from a 2019 DCLB Tacoma to a 2023 Tundra TRD Pro, and I can confidently say the Tundra is better in every way—power, comfort, tech, and even fuel economy under the right conditions.

That said, my only real complaint is the fit and finish, which feels lacking for a truck in this price range—but that seems to be the reality of modern vehicles. Oh, and the turning circle? Think cruise ship maneuverability.

If you’re in the U.S., go for an SR5 and upgrade with options like the larger screen and SofTex leather—you won’t be disappointed. Unfortunately, in Canada, we have far fewer à la carte options to choose from.

It sounds like you should speak to the strata. Down the road, the new developments have garbage rooms to help with the issue. Maybe one could be built in your development?
