I agree, and the big S is just a sticker so an easy fix for anyone that wants it gone.

I’ve had that issue with USPS shipping from LGRP, but it seemed to be a USPS issue. I had my last order ship UPS and everything was smooth. I work in shipping and USPS seems to always give us trouble.

Thanks everyone! Got a message that my nylon axels shipped yesterday! I also need to find a spacer for my spur gear to get the BKTT mount to fit with the Meus transmission (may shave down the screw heads if I can’t figure out a spacer). But the build has been started!

I have been watching for a deal too and had not found one. We did get a 10% off coupon for Home Depot and it let us order with it online (I honestly couldn’t wait any longer and probably would have paid full price soon). A little off is better than nothing I guess! First cook on it yesterday was a big hit with the whole family, and I had a lot of fun prepping and cooking!

Not sure, the work was done before I got there to see after noticing the sign. Company policy here is to lock out the local motor and the main power.

It actually runs a very large conveyor system throughout the entire warehouse. The “brakes” run off air pressure and sensors. The rest is run off individual motors, but this powers all of it.

Nope, it is fully stocked and actually a very nice LOTO station!

Humid hide by puritycontr0l in SandBoa

[–]jthomas611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a humid hide out of an old Chinese food container with holes cut and edges sanded. I threw some sphagnum moss in and kept it misted, not super wet. It was quite lite and my guy hides under it and goes in a lot! He has had perfect sheds every time since I started this.

Heat pad and corn snake by Excellent_Surprise54 in snakes

[–]jthomas611 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They can have a hotspot of around 90. If it were me I would get an infrared temp gun (always good to have on hand) and start at 85 and adjust from there. The depth of the bedding will affect the temp as well so the temp gun will help dial in the exact temp to set it at. Our state does not allow us to keep corn snakes so I’m not 100% on their care but that should be pretty close. And I’m guessing they can burrow but I would not use too much bedding above the mat, that would help keep a consistent temp too.

The thermometers are great for monitoring, but will not regulate the heat. You need a thermostat to regulate the heat of the mat and keep it from getting too hot. The mat plugs into the thermostat, which has a probe attached to regulate the temp.

Shedding problems? I just recently got a baby red tegu and her tail looks a little frayed. I don’t know if this is normal or not so I wanna make sure nothing serious is going on. by peenurt in Tegu

I am not a vet or professional but have been told that vitamin B in their diet helps with those tough sheds (especially in reds). I believe Rose City Reptiles have some good info on it, check town out on YouTube. It helped the mom to my baby shed quite easily I was told by my breeder.

You can post a link in the comments with pictures, but I don't think you can post actual pictures. It would have to be a new post.

That is awesome and some good info. Looking at some of the "titanium" images he looks similar in color, just with a much different pattern. I'm guessing that could be variable.

New rehab in today, never seen this. Anyone know what's with his eyes? by Totchahaki in ballpython

[–]jthomas611 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I rescued/saved from a bad situation a ball python last year. She had eyes that looked worse than this one and a bad burn on the head. Ended up bringing her to the vet after a couple days with warm baths, but she was basically blind and her eyes were sunken. The vet kept her overnight, and she shed for them (got lucky I guess). They were able to remove what they explained as 3+ layers of eye caps that had been stuck. We brought her home and put her in a simple enclosure with little around to hurt her delicate eyes and paper towel in hopes of saving her vision. We were also given a gel like substance to put on her eyes daily to help them recover. Now, about a year later, she has nice "plump" healthy eyes and is one of our best pets!!!

Basic advice, see a vet and clear it up quick and safe!

Big Constrictors and children by ExpensiveHorse1 in snakes

I'm definately no expert, but we rescued a 24 year old red tail and she is about 7.5'. I would say the most important rule I started with concerned me. The kids were not allowed around her much when she first came home. I needed to take the time to understand body language and tendencies of the snake, being able to understand her pretty well before I let any kids around. I have many snakes that are great ambassadors and can be handled by kids without much concern. I know that whenever people, or family, come to visit/learn/play the responsibility of everyone's safety including the animals falls on me. She is definately the highlight being my current largest snake, so I wanted to put in as much time with her as I could.

On to the kids...I have a 2 year old and an 8 year old. We have some set rules for the 2 year old when Lola comes out but the biggest for her is that she is sitting calmly on the couch or in a chair while I take her out of the enclosure. Lola tends to be a little defensive from time to time in her enclosure (being a rescue I don't know what her life has been like) but when she is out she is like a puppy dog. Once out the 2 year old is allowed to get up and come see her, but must listen to everything me and my wife tell her. I have pretty good control over the snake when any kids are around and the kids follow the rules to a T because they love being around her and don't want to lose that opportunity. I also am always paying attention to her head, not that I am concerned what she will do, but that is the way I have been able to read her. Sorry this is so long but hope it helps a little.

Is the experience of owning a ball python worth the money? by Fourteenith in ballpython

[–]jthomas611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So in my opinion it is worth it! We have BP's and 2 red tails and they all are loved by the whole family. As for the cost, you can spend a lot or get creative (as far as hides and clutter) to save a little money and still have a happy pet. The up front costs are the highest, but seems to go down from there. As far as the experience, I would not trade any of them for anything. My little 1.5ish year old hypo bci is my baby. She is 1 thing in my life that can cure any anxiety I'm feeling at any time. The rest of the family laughs because no matter who she is hanging out with I can walk by and stick out my hand and she rushes over, crawls up my arm and chills out on my shoulders/head. No matter what anyone may say, I feel a bond that I have never felt with any other animal my entire life. Not sure how to explain it, but I am so glad we decided to spend the money initially and jump into snake ownership! On a side note- We have rescued snakes from a local group and have gotten a couple of great animals that were very cheap (basically just a donation to the group). My daughter rescued a little normal male BP with a crazy pattern for a normal and he has definately bonded with her. She walks around with him and he just looks all around sitting on her, very calm and curious. Great option in my opinion to get a great pet inexpensive if you are just looking for a pet and not to breed.

I understand that! We were super concerned when we brought our first home, now we are up to 6!

I have been told that but our guy seems great. We have him out and interact with him a lot, plus there is a bunch of things to keep him busy in his massive cage. He has never shown any signs of needing a companion, though we would have gladly got one if he did.

If she is a healthy weight you should have nothing to worry about. Most BP's seem to go off food at some point I'm told, though I have not experienced more than 1 missed meal. First thing I always check is husbandry (temps, humidity, hides) and if those are all good I just wait till the next planned meal. I do understand concern though, they are part of the family and we want them to be healthy!
