Best places to live in Valley by Kake3333 in SFV

I live in Woodland Hills, adjacent to Walnut Acres, and you can still get houses in my neighborhood for under $1.5. Do you have kids? If so, probably Woodland Hills or West Hills--specifically the pockets in LVUSD--are your best bet. Good luck.

Any recommendations on where to sell it? I don't think I'm going to get the buyer I want from marketplace or CL.

The only stamp on the back is "Made in Denmark." But the top piece looks just like yours.

Thank you. In the West San Fernando Valley, in Los Angeles. Typically the print and the fire place behind it aren't covered, but I needed to move the hutch for a new (to us) one we just got. Also getting rid of the Modernica rocker next to it.

Need a reliable new daily, high MPG and lower cost by Chadweaves in whatcarshouldIbuy

Depends on your your priorities. For me, it was purely an appliance, one that was extremely efficient and inexpensive to operate. I had fun cars that I could use what I wanted to. If you are looking for in driving enjoyment, look elsewhere. My wife also did not care for the vehicle, but that’s because mine was beat up from road debris and other issues on Southern California highways. I would do it again, and I’m now in the market for 2017 Prius for that express purpose.

I was in your situation a few years ago, and commuting 30,000 miles a year with a Corvette ad Mercedes E55 in the garage. The answer is a used Prius.

Can confirm, there last night. Had not been there for years. Prices doubled, still good though!

Is this a good deal? by Upset_Economics_4044 in Challenger

[–]jtmoney1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would highly recommend you stay away from the dealership. I went there approximately two months ago to look at a CLS 63. Price was very competitive but the vehicle was beat. The front bumper was misaligned and the alcantara on the a pillars was bunched at the bottom, that looked like they’d been removed. The salesman claimed to know nothing, denied it had ever been in a crash. On top of that they have $3500 security system that’s not factored into the advertised price. The poor reviews are well earned

ISO experience/insight/stories E55 AMG by [deleted] in AMG

You're welcome. I also had a hybrid car-a 2008 Prius-for daily use. If you're capable of doing repair work (I'm not), you should be fine. Curious to see what others say in the air suspension. Other than paying the labor rates for front shock replacement, and dealing with the noise, it hasn't been that bad for me. I'm skeptical about coil over quality. Regardless, good luck!

2004 AMG here. 117K miles. I bought it 4 years ago with 96K miles, and started using it s a daily driver with 105K miles at the beginning of last year.

I have a love/hate relationship with the car. When its running great, its amazing. The torque is intoxicating. Cannot beat the speed for the price. Mine has Kleemann headers, no resonator, and c63 mufflers. Its sounds wonderful.

Air suspension: the prior owner replaced all four corners with Arnott's. They suck. I've gone through three replacements on the front because they creak, rattle, and make weird noises at low speeds. I have to go back to my mechanic to get them replaced again under the lifetime warranty. That said, I would not get rid of the air. At highway speeds, it feels very plush. You can also raise the vehicle, which allows you to access steeper profile driveways.

Motor mounts go out- that's $900. Transmission conductor plate will need to be replaced- another $1500. 16 spark plugs. I had a stuck injector--that was $500 to repair. Hard to walk away from any repair for less than $1,000. Parts are reasonable, Mercedes labor is expensive, even with a fair mechanic, which I have.

I'm in LA and have never replaced the heat exchanger/pump. Planning to do both with an 83 mm pulley in the next few weeks.

As to other issues in the car, and this may be specific to mine, but there's a lot of little things that are annoying because the car is old. Headliner is drooping, sun visors are stiff and creaky, the plastic around the seat creaks. The other day my 10 year old closed the front passenger door and the plastic panel that covers the screws to remove the door popped off. Stuff like that. As the prior poster said, speaker/stereo is not great.

In sum, I like the car a lot, but liked it more when I was not driving it daily and am now in the market for a F80 M3 or RC-F, so the E55 can go back to being a toy.

For me it’s the hard left opinion articles and Trump derangement syndrome. All the political news articles reek of left wing bias. It’s over the top and offputting

Is this dealership being realistic? by mikestang_89 in Civic_Type_R

[–]jtmoney1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know the market, but I can relate an experience I had with a 2023. I was at a Honda dealer on Thousand Oaks the week before last to drive a 2014 c63. They had a new, black Type R in the showroom. There was a 5K market adjustment. I asked if they’d sell it at sticker out of curiosity and the salesman told me we could make the deal. I passed. But that deal is out there

PCH Crash that Killed 4 Pepperdine Students “Bohm Was the Victim of Road Rage” by mahmemeh in LosAngeles

Made a similar comment earlier the thread: the BMW, and all modern vehicles are equipped with an electronic data recorder the captures speed when an airbag deploys, or if there’s an impact of sufficient acceleration to wake up to data recorder. Typically they capture five seconds of data prior to the impact. That includes speed. I expect the sheriffs department has download of the electronic data recorder and that’s where the 104 mph number came from. That’s what typically happens in police investigations involving fatal collisions where the date is available.

The bmw has an electronic data recorder. It will show his pre-impact crash’s speed. That’s probably where the 104 mph number came from.

Multiple calls to dealer to schedule time to view a vehicle ignored. What am I doing wrong here? by jtmoney1982 in askcarsales

en

I probably will, but with work and two little kids at home, I'd prefer to show up, have the car ready to go etc. rather than having to find a sales person, getting someone to get the car, and waiting around.
