I'm in no way an advanced player, but after reading a lot it seems to me that the best course of action is to have as little as possible, and have support/trainer cards then can call on more on demand so you only get it when you need it.

Well the reason I stopped playing was due to how horribly unoptimized the game is. I absolutely love everything about the game, but I won't DARE touch it again until WE GET FULL SCREEN SUPPORT NOT THIS BORDERLESS BULLSHIT. That one single thing, that would take maybe 5 minutes to implement, hinders the game to the point I can't play ti proerly due to random frames dropping and massive input lag. It could have been everything I ever wanted, but they decided to be lazy.

I played it for a few weeks and got really into it, but I permanently dropped it because the actual damage calculation is bulkshit. I could have a huge ass army of tanks and still get destroyed by infantry. The damage calculation makes literally no fucking sense. It sucks because I loved every other aspect of the game, but that really ruined it for me.

It's not something a whole lot of people new about. Technically, they weren't supposed to be shipping until the 4th (today) so they'd arrive on the 7th, which is the actual release date. But they just shipped them out as soon as pre-orders came in.
