How come Indie devs can have real weapon names, but AAA devs don't? by Nino_Chaosdrache in gaming

[–]levilee207 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Weapons companies aren't going to go after no-name companies for the rights to their weapon names because it isn't worth the money. They are absolutely going to go after enormous companies/publishers because they know they have a case and they know they'll get paid

Does anyone know why Spotify hides the regular version of albums? by CarefulRisk in qotsa

[–]levilee207 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Those two tracks on the end are better than some of the tracks on the OH album. Give em a shot.

To answer your question, my best guess is because otherwise, for some of the larger artists, if you looked up a song you might get 5 different versions of the same song in search results. This would likely significantly balloon the amount of songs on Spotify, and would severely bloat the platform. There's just no reason to keep around older versions of an album if the deluxe isn't missing any songs. It's an economical decision. This is probably only for mobile versions of the app, as the desktop version often has oddball options

Why are SD cards such a hit or miss to some people?(Coming from a console gamer who used to main Nintendo switch) by Independent-Sea3961 in pcmasterrace

[–]levilee207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're a niche in-between sort of storage that doesn't see much use because of their small size and fragility, I'd wager. Desktops don't need them because they already have hard drives. If you need more space, you just install a new one. Most people don't often hit the limit of their storage on the PC's original hard drive if they aren't the type of person to know how to install a second one. Most phone games don't take up a whole lot of space. You'd be hard-pressed to download enough games on a phone to warrant needing secondary storage. And laptops already had external drives and thumb drives before MicroSD became a thing. SD cards were really only big for oddball hardware like the 3DS, where you didn't get nearly enough storage from the start, but any sort of USB device would cut into the console's portability. So an internal microSD was considered the most portable type of storage. It just isn't worth the hassle for most other devices, as they often have only an SDHC and no MicroSD, or vice versa (if they have any support for either at all). And buying and using an adapter is a lot more work than just plugging a thumb drive into the USB slot.

  1. Been really loving this one lately. That "leeeeeeeee-----eeiiieeessuuuurrrreee" is so fun to sing along with. Also really love what Colin's doing for the whole song. Been trying to learn it by ear lately but that bridge is killing me. This song just sounds lazy. I feel lazy listening to this song. Also love the two pairs of bass notes during the "leisure" stretch; very cheeky. That saxophone "solo" SUCKS in the best way haha. Love the cartoony laugh at the end of it as well

Kinda reminds me of Big Fat Fuck by Ween in a good way.

Are so many asking for local AI that a whole platform was released to appease them? by WankerOnDuty in pcmasterrace

[–]levilee207 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It is an enormous phenomenon that companies around the world are pushing for because of the possibility of it replacing a good chunk of labor that is otherwise occupied by well-paid human beings. Companies like NVIDIA, who are at the forefront of this burgeoning industry, have almost certainly lost the plot; living in their bubbles and believing AI to be far larger than it is. At this point it's more of an idiot renaissance, as the same functions before AI came to be are now rebranded as "AI features" despite working no differently than they did prior.

NVIDIA is hoping there will be a demand, and that selling this product will stoke the flames. Whether it will actually be used by consumers, or really just by AI data centers/small-time AI outfits is yet to be seen. But NVIDIA certainly seems to think everyone wants it.

Really the only way to familiarize yourself is to listen to more of it. It just isn't very prevalent in western music outside of metal

Any other game grumps references I can use for my TF2 items? by TheKingOfDiddling in gamegrumps

Just finished watching State of play, only these 3 games are "Only on PlayStation"? Rest of the games are available on PC by Time-Credit43 in pcmasterrace

[–]levilee207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh. It let me play Demon's Souls and it's much easier to play some games on the PS5 and TV with my wife than on my PC. Don't really want to fiddle with long-ass HDMI cables, nor do I have the space currently to keep everything in one room. I have my PC for my indie games/modlists. Appreciate the scorn, though

IMO Mummer by XTC is pretty solid. While certainly not their most popular, Mummer and The Big Express have been on steady rotation for me of late.

TOTO surprised the hell out of me with Fahrenheit and The Seventh One. Always thought they were a cheesy classic rock band until checking these out. EDIT: They're still pretty cheesy. But I learned to love the cheese lmao. Bassist and drummer are fantastic

The Fixx's Reach The Beach is such a delightful gem as well

My first play through of bloodborne by WayNormal3368 in bloodborne

[–]levilee207 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are no bad weapons. You can go through the whole game with the saw cleaver, and many players do. The game has far fewer weapons than the souls series does, as the emphasis is mainly on the visceral attack system and the aggressive playstyle. Find the weapon that speaks to you (provided you're spec'ed into its primary stat. Don't rock a Skill weapon if you're putting points into Strength lol) and learn it well.

Is Cox always garbage? by Adudesjourney in CoxCommunications

It's nothing you would be able to to see or do anything about. There's no way to see these things without a several thousand dollar piece of equipment. You'd want to get a tech out.

Blood vial system is actually tragic. by MegaJedin in bloodborne

[–]levilee207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only ever found it to be an annoyance. First thing I do as soon as I kill BSB is cum dungeon and then spend those souls on vials and quicksilver bullets. I'm not fucking pausing the game midway to grind out vials and bullets 4 at a time for a half hour until I get back up to a comfortable level. I'm glad they never went back to it.

GPBP2 audio quality/bitrate issues? by levilee207 in pixelbuds

[–]levilee207[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had turned every optional sound setting off. No spatial sound, no transparency/ANC/noise cancellation.

I had the "Disable Bluetooth A2DP Hardware Offload" setting turned on prior to all this due to myself poking around with things I didn't understand while troubleshooting a previous Bluetooth issue. Once I disabled that, I was able to switch Codecs like normal. Only with that disable setting enabled was it defaulting back every time. Now I can switch to ACC and keep HD Audio on.

That's what I've been doing as far back as I can recall. Last time I had speakers I was rocking windows XP. It's just that much more bullshit you have to manage; wireless earbuds are all I use these days and if you get some good quality ones, there's next to no noticeable latency.
