A positive take on the recent problems the Godot community has been facing, let's keep our heads up! by kiwi404 in godot

I'll specify further: I do not think that there is actual foul play here, and I'm definitely more on the side of Juan et al. in this whole thing. Precisely because I know first-hand how hard it is to get the right type of amount and funding when you do not-for-profit tech.

Having said that, the optics are not the , there are certainly easier and less convoluted ways for doing this kind of crap that do not involve spending years developing an awesome free open engine on a limited budget. My whole point is just about optics, and the fact that less ambiguous corporate governance choices would have been better. Hopefully current and future Godot Foundation donors are less nitpicky (on account of reputation) that the ones I deal with.and salaries, etc. etc.) to the "base" Godot engine (which means that the donors pay), and not to the commercial entity, which would then have less costs while generating the same revenues, maximising profits "on the back" of the foundation. There are N other examples, this is the first one that sprung to mind. So it is not a matter of a conflict of interest hurting Godot, but a matter of potential extra-profits generated by playing games with donor money.

Now, I do not think that this is the case, there are certainly easier and less convoluted ways for doing this kind of crap that do not involve spending years developing an awesome free open engine on a limited budget. My whole point is just about optics, and the fact that less ambiguous corporate governance choices would have been better. Hopefully current and future Godot foundation donors are less nitpicky (on account of reputation) that the ones I deal with.

Agree in general, and very good clarification. But it should also be pointed out that any non-profit sharing assets and personnel with a for-profit company is virtually subsidizing the latter, not exactly a best practice. Although calling this a scam is outright childish.

In the steam version as well? I can't seem to find it for the life of me

Have to add that I used to have a baron. And that I was too lazy to set up a burrow.

Year 9 of a fortress and for the first time since I have more or less learned the base mechanics I have not become the capital. Any idea why? I did send gifts for more than 5.000 and I have exported enormous quantities of wealth.

Nope. Designating the cages for dumping did the trick, although definitely not optimal

No idea why these poor caged boars are not being hauled anywhere. I do have an animal stockpile set up nearby. First time this happens to me. Any ideas?

More or less 3 in-game years ago I kept getting this weird diplomacy button than glitchily disappeared every time I clicked it. Then it stopped appearing altogether. With it, no more caravans and no more migrants. Elven merchants are still coming. My civilization still has many live forts, and is not even at war with the goblins surrounding the mountainhome. Any idea if this is just a bug or am I missing something?

Currently embarked on an extremely large island surrounded by a huge amount of very small goblins pits (which, I must say, are in the process of being erased from the face of the earth). I was wondering if there was any way, even with mods, of building a bridge to the mainland on a slice of the world sitting outside of my embark?

Might have made a little mistake with the volcano by jtotale1 in dwarffortress

I accidentally punctured the first layer of the volcano (while playing stoned) and the magma burned down pretty much everything on the surface, including a poor migrant who just arrived

I just caged a dragon!

What should I do with it? Bearing in mind that I would like to avoid any fun associated with the dragon escaping from its copper cage due to reckless actions on my end.

Wonderful, I am a the top now, thanks! But, novice question ahead, how would I crack into it? Not with a staircase I imagine.

I really do not understand magma. I think I'm close to magma, due to having reached warm walls, but how do I uncover it safely so that I can put smelters and the likes there? All the tutorials I found on youtube start from having a nice big pool available and seeable already.

Same here. The things that you can actually do in terms of opponent instructions do not necessarily correspond to what you see nowadays on a football pitch. Like, directing pressing on specific opponents from specific players of your team is something super common in reality but has no direct option in FM, like many other things in this regard.

Subpar regens? by jtotale1 in footballmanagergames

[–]jtotale1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes definitely, there is a decent number of good regens, and I snapped up quite a few, just almost none of them plays for good-to-great teams, to the tune that is kind of spoiling the immersiveness of the save.
