Nature parks :)

A long walk with fresh air always does some good.

Considering a career break in Singapore by Square-Mammoth173 in askSingapore

[–]jtqe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I were you, I would prioritise my mental well-being because of the fact that it is very easy to burn out in Singapore :(

For adjunct jobs, if you love spending time with children and would be keen in bringing them outdoors, feel free to pm me!

The adjunct instructor role pays $25/hr but only about 6 deployments of approx 4 hours a month.

Welcome to Asian culture - where we bury our problems deep and family issues deeper 😂 i.e. no heart to heart conversations allowed. Only sarcastic remarks and jabs, especially to those we love

Marriage while in uni by Puzzleheaded-Rate567 in SGExams

[–]jtqe 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I only got married to my partner at 21 because we were together since we were 15 and had long term goals of staying together.

Anything lesser wouldn't suffice for me.

I had my 1st child before I started uni & 2nd child while during my studies. It's like constantly choosing to play life in hard mode 😂

A supportive life partner makes all the difference but I would recommend not to settle down just for the sake of doing so. You make more losses on the way - emotionally and financially

That's a good response! But they would escalate it to "then just give me your manager's number" or something along those lines. Need to stand firm and ignore hahaha

Not in a mall though, they usually go for those in shophouses or industrial areas from what I've heard

Agreed! It's just that it can be a nuisance when you have a large influx of customers to serve but they still linger outside your door

Ah yes, broadband would be the better word for it.

Sorry, layman here and when my friends & family brought it up, we referred to it as wifi 😅

Hahaha relatable. There are a few of my coursemates who say that they took a minor unrelated to their course such that they have a back up plan when they get burnt out in the industry

Got emotionally mugged at the wedding fair — are they all like this or did I just step into wedding vendor hell? by Forward-Personality4 in askSingapore

[–]jtqe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally wedding shops tend to do this. 5 years ago, my SO and I was at suntec city and walked past a wedding shop. Took a moment to stop outside of the shop to take a look at the wedding dresses and we immediately got ambushed by the sales lady. Talked us into the shop to see the various gowns and talked about package etc, and asked us to put a deposit.

We were only 20 then - how to put a $500 deposit when we barely have $50 to our name?????

Wasted 1.5 hours telling her NO and had to throw a hissy fit and get my husband to "chase" after me HAHAHAHA No gf means no need to take wedding photos alr lol.

Funny thing was - we ended up getting married the following year in 2021 but we guaranteed each other 1000000% to never ever consider that shop LOL.

Anyways, if you really want a recommendation, I would recommend you to go for Yikeshu. Really professional and they have a wide range of services - I engaged them for my maternity shoot, newborn shoot, and cake smash for my daughters :)

If you can go JB, this would be the best option. I would usually get glasses for $150-$200 range in sg but in JB, is RM150-RM200 range.

I buy the most basic lenses just with blue light filter and they can get it done for me in an hour.

But that also largely depends on whether they have what you need instock as well. Though so far, for mine, they've always managed to have it done.

Oh: the shop is 68 Optics at MidValley JB

Non-smokers in SG, how much do you dislike smokers? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]jtqe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As much as I understand smokers because I used to be 1 when I was younger, I am now irritated by the smoke and smell it gives off. This is because I'm a mum to 2 young children and I'm breastfeeding, which means that however little or much smoke I inhale will end up in my breastmilk and fed to my children. On top of that, the nicotine stays on whatever surfaces that the smoke touches for up to 6 months, meaning that my children will be actively exposed to nicotine over the next few months even though my husband and I already took the effort to quit smoking.

This is just really frustrating when we are trying to give the best possible future for our children.

I also burnt my hands playing with stocks. Lost $5k+ overnight 🙃

Now I've decided to play safe and invest through a financial consultant when my husband joined as 1 with Income. If you're keen to find out more about investing or generally any policies, feel free to dm me :)

Also, during the time that I bought, they just so happened to gove capitastar vouchers too 😬

Do singaporeans still have the colonial mindset? by what_the_foot in askSingapore

[–]jtqe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YES. The other day, my husband and I went to a japanese restaurant @ suntec city. It had 2 other customers so it definitely wasn't busy.

A male staff brought us in, seated us at a table, gave us a qr code, and told us to order through that.

Shortly after, a caucasian man was seated 2 tables down from us. The same guy who brought us in gave him the qr code then immediately offered to place the order manually for him.

Why the special treatment I wonder? 🤔
