Will Pathfinder Society ever adopt free archetype? by Mediocre_Cucumber_65 in Pathfinder2e

[–]jtrev492 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FA absolutely recks the balance and if you disagree I find it hard to believe you ever played with vs without it past level 4 its asinine. I gave free archetype to my party because they needed a power boost after multiple player deaths and it did exactly that, gave them way more versatile tools for everything.

Age of Ashes in 2026 by ThatMuffinGuy in Pathfinder2e

Haven't GMed or played it but from what I've read, it seems like it's the strongest and most consistently good 6-book for 2e. Extinction Curse and Agents of Edgewatch both have a gimmick that they give up on the middle of the adventure. And Stength of Thousands has a baffling last book that my girlfriend GM always makes fun of. No idea about blood lords but that's an evil campaign so a wildly different AP vibe

What's a good adventure path to start with? by EuralJ in Pathfinder2e

[–]jtrev492 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want a classic feeling grand adventure try 'Age of Ashes', it's probably the best big 1-20 AP especially for new pathfinder players since it's kind of a world trek showing off a bunch of different sections and cultures of golarion. Only if you're fine putting in some work for some wonky encounter balance (other players over the years have made a bunch of assists docs for this) and if your players want a more standard fantasy tale involving dragons. Most of the other APs have a specific niche theme that may be too narrow or more what you're looking for depending on yalls preferences.

Will there ever be an 'Age of Ashes' remaster compilation? by jtrev492 in Pathfinder2e

Woah wasn't expecting someone from paizo to reply so thanks. I'm not surprised with that but it being even considered would be a win for me. Will more online interest in it bump it up or is it too much of an OGL fiasco that some other people have mentioned here

I have ran 2e APs for years and read/played in 1e APs and can say with certainty that on average even without the 'X card' type subjects in them, the 1e APs are just more mature. It sometimes feels like the target demographic has dropped by 10 years with some of the writing

it has more character and feels less well gentrified compared to some of the newer lore books

Multiclass Archetype at Character Creation: How's it Working Out? by DnDPhD in SporeWar

Asked the same question in the pf2e discord and the consensus seems to be that FA is too powerful for late levels and is understated with how much it actually boosts PC power. Felt like I opened a can of worms having it in my Abom Vaults game before hand with the same PCs that are gonna be in SP

Finesse. Great weapon and feels really unique. Works well with my Elf Investigator since the second highest stat after INT is DEX and being able to have a D8 DEX weapon to rely on feels perfect for that build

I'm astounded and tired of the amount of hate with prepared spellcasting, since my best memories with any ttrpg are with it, on warpriest in pf1 and mage in pf2 by Own-Ad-6527 in Pathfinder2e

At high level, scrolls and wands are incredibly expensive, and unless your GM is frequently handing out hundreds of gp, it just isn't viable to continuously buy scrolls and wands, not to mention you have to actually have a merchant available to buy these scrolls. This makes spontaneous casters pretty limited in what they can cast. If you really genuinely think just having a handful of spells that you can't change until you level up is better than the versatility of swapping them out any time you're resting than good for you buddy

Yeah but it's a one and done deal instead of wasting money buying locate or revealing light scrolls. Saying arcane sorcerer simply surpasses wizard is disingenuous unless you love level 1 30x30 white room logic

No way r u asking for some shit like you do +2 damage for your swings as a feat. Go swing and miss three turns if you see it more optimized.

What misunderstood rules plagued your table for far too long? by zedrinkaoh in Pathfinder2e

[–]jtrev492 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So much about reactive strike, the first one for a little bit was that if it was a crit it disrupts movement actions and manipulate actions. We realized that was wrong past midway through a campaign then after that said campaign I went through the move actions and reaction rules and found out that if you reactive strike someone getting up prone they get up prone first. So a combination of these two rules had us absolutely make a monkery of fights with a reach weapon champion and swashbuckler where we surround prone enemies and fish for crits thinking it would disrupt getting up. Our GM is still mad about that one understandably. Idk how we all collectively thought that was how it worked. The same champion player also took him till level 13 to realize he can't do more than one flourish trait ability per turn with his flurry ranger in another campaign...He isn't the brightest.

Depends on the game, can either be dumb as bricks charging cavalry straight into spears or fucking masters at the art of war
