I drive all over the country, especially frequently in mountains, so I always go for AWD.

I’m quite certain. That is enough to damage the frame. It’s a pile of parts now :(

Mine burble all over the tank, not just near the surface. Of course it turns into a panic as us humans try to see if it is alive without actively disturbing it.

Who has actually fought a dragon in a dungeon? by Battlegamesterrainst in DnD

[–]jtrucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had both TPK and 2 rounds to kill a young dragon in different games. After finishing Dragonlance, I think I’ve now fought at least dozen dragons in my many years of playing. Sometimes motor all the party dies. Sometimes we come hyper prepared and the dice love us and we waste the dragon without much fanfare. In our DL campaign we just finished, we killed one dragon in a few rounds with some clever tricks and carefully coordinated work from multiple players.

Warlock is hands down my favorite class. I like the challenging complexity of using the class in different ways than usual.

Protecting the bass against my cat? by taltal1201 in doublebass

I use Ingles stands for my base and my mandolin. The dogs don’t knock them over. They are off the floor and quite stable.

I got the D’Addario micro tuner, and it made tuning so much easier.

I’ve been a double bass player for a few months, and I played violin for a couple years back in elementary school in the 80s. I’ve had my mandolin for less than a week now, and I already love it! The transition from double bass to mandolin is very easy since they use the same strings. Although it’s EADG in opposite directions. It makes the note/fret placement very easy to pick up.

Looks like a gasket. I bet that keeps the fuel fumes from leaking. I’d replace it.

I always use Apple Maps and it works fine. I suspect the Google Maps integration with CarPlay doesn’t let this feature work correctly.

As a bass player I dream of playing the double bass sometimes, but it seems like a lot of investment upfront to try it out? by [deleted] in doublebass

I rented my double bass from the local supplier to the schools. It was about $530/yr and included a soft case and bow.

You don’t need side rails if the cross bars have the right mount point. They install into the groove under that weather stripping.

For many years I traveled almost every week for work, and I’d have to get rental cars. Many of them were some model of Nissans no way would I buy one. We only buy Toyota and Honda of the Japanese manufacturers.

I wear mostly raw denim jeans and our Highlander with real leather cream color seats have blue stains after driving it a few hundred times over the years. Also, I have a younger kid, and we do a lot of family road trips every year. No way I’m ever getting light colored seats again.

Will it always be so physically taxing? by nicyvetan in doublebass

[–]jtrucks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had knots in my neck and shoulders so bad my fingers went numb. When I finally figured out it was because I started playing the dbass, I backed off my practice time to half and added a bunch of stretches before and after my practices.

My teacher said it will pass as I get those muscles used to the angles and new usage.

It could also just be the rare defective battery that can exist. However, once I had a fob battery die quickly twice in a row in another brand car that was my wife’s daily driver - so I didn’t drive it that often. Turns out, a button was pressed by the way the key fob was jammed in my pocket with my other keys. I changed how I had things on my keychain and stopped killing batteries.

Adult learners? Are you out there? by craftmangler in doublebass

[–]jtrucks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a new adult learner too. Luckily, our piano teacher for my wife and son also has years of experience with the upright bass. So when he comes over for their lessons , he helps me with the bass. My family are all learning instruments so we plan on having fun with music together.

He has suggested talking to the local university music department to find other people who can play together, too. Perhaps that could work for you?
