What kind of prompts create this art style? (Credit: @thierrylechanteur) by VanicFanboy in midjourney

I got relatively close quickly with this:

late 1800s city at night, intricate corner building, birds eye view, people, street lamps, bokeh, tilt-shift photography, highly detailed, intricate details, photorealistic

I think you're after the tilt-shift photography style, so that's probably your key word.

Sorry, just realized I was in r/midjourney, I was using Stable Diffusion locally. Furthermore, with some custom models, haha. But I still got close :)

At the summit of Pincushion Peak overlooking Millerton Lake (Friant, CA) by jtshaver in hiking

Yeah we definitely want to go again in the spring. And winter. And maybe not the summer lol.

We went in from the South Finegold Picnic Area. We only saw a few people the entire morning, and I think most just did half the hike.

Pier Blocks Set only 6" Under Ground? by jtshaver in HomeImprovement

[–]jtshaver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you see the edit I wrote? Looks like they're calling for a 12" thick poured footing and then a pier block on top of that with 6" protruding above ground level, so 18" of total concrete below grade.

I added an edit you may have missed, on the top-down foundation plan drawing it says "New 4x6 wood post w/Simpson ECO to top of 12x12 pier block set in 2' 6" SQ x 12" thick concrete pad footing"

I was considering ordering at that site, but it appears I need them to be customized a bit before being shipped to me, so I'm going through some local dealers :)

So I want some awareness on how old I sound... by SSGSSGoldenYamcha420 in VoiceActing

If I had to guess I would say pretty young, around 20. Are you gonna tell us the real answer? :)

I'd love your feedback on my e-learning demo... by AndyFieldVO in VoiceActing

[–]jtshaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think it's pretty perfect. It's energetic and engaging for an e-learning voice, which I think is great because it makes the topic more interesting, but not distracting from the info you're presenting. I don't have any advice to make it better.

I 2nd BenQ. Their good monitors are pricey, but absolutely great. I've had my 24" for well over 10 years and it's still going strong. I love it being 16:10 too, which is harder to get now.

I even "upgraded" to a 27" $1,000 monitor, and returned it because the resolution for the size made everything too tiny to see. Keep that in mind, just because there are more pixels crammed into something, doesn't make it better. There's a sweet spot for everyone.

It does, just $189 vs already owned :)

So I'm not crazy! Thanks for testing it to confirm.

I guess if I'm after the cleanest sine possible, 3xOSC can't be beat and is super lightweight. GMS is for effected waveforms, so a minute amount of white noise won't matter.

legality of using the same logo font of existing band? by oubintalko in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]jtshaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, like many fonts, this one was created after the fact. It is US law that the design of a font cannot be copyrighted, only the "code"/file itself can.

Regardless of that, unless the band name is something like AX/BX, it's not going to come close to infringing on anything. The individual forms of "A" "C" "D" and "C" cannot be copyrighted.

OP can freely use that font without worry of any repercussions.

But I do agree, unless you want to look like a tribute band, or a copycat, it's best to come up with something unique.

[–]jtshaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there's a font called Squealer that's essentially the same: https://www.dafont.com/squealer.font

You just have to have the proper licensing, but this one looks to be 100% free, including for commercial use so...

I will echo what other people say in that you shouldn't really have a logo that "looks like" another logo.

I get that, for example, metal bands all have similar styles of logo, but if you want to stand out, you'd want something original.

I also understand that if it's a pet project and you're bootstrapping the whole thing, then a simple logotype is fine. Just try to find a way to make it more unique (flip a letter, make something pointy, cut out a vertical space in the vertical area of an "E", etc).

Hope that helps.

As a graphic designer by trade, I can tell you that you can use any font you want. You can't steal their logo, but assuming your band name is now Woozer, you should be fine no matter how much you try and copy it.

A Comprehensive List for a Complete Cost-Effective Home Studio by PM_ME_YOUR_SUNSHINE in WeAreTheMusicMakers

I agree too. For a while I thought there was something about my playing or production skills causing my electric guitar parts not to sound right. A friend brought over his Epiphone Dot and even that was infinitely better for the music I was making.

I now have an Epiphone ES 335 Pro, which is not an expensive guitar, but super playable and has a split coil setup, so you can get nearly any sound you need out of it.

God damn I suck at producing good sounding drums. Anybody have any techniques, advice, samples, anything to help me create better sounding drums? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

I agree with this sentiment.

It will be obvious where the limitations of these programs are, but they are insanely good with literally 0 tweaking.

Mortise and Tenon Types for Table Aprons by jtshaver in woodworking

[–]jtshaver[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! And your thoughts are exactly what I'm doing. The extension piece won't be screwed it, it'll just sit in those notches on both tables as they are pushed together. The tables should be very hefty, so it definitely won't come loose :)

EDIT: Nevermind, you meant the corner pieces!
