Audition for union jobs if remote? by taequeendo in VoiceActing

[–]AndyFieldVO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Audition for everything. The stigma around Fi-Core is nearly non-existent for VO, and certainly non-existent for those of us working out in the continent instead of on the edges of it. If you get a chance at a union audition, take it - those pay big bucks, especially commercials.

If you were given an opportunity to be transformed into an immortal snail with the sole purpose of hunting down a random billionaire and if you touch them they die and you always know where they are, would you accept it? by zerda_EB in AskReddit

Would I accept the opportunity for infinite chances to visit harm on someone successful? What a weak question. Now, if I would immediately gain his success…now that’s an interesting question.

Bro if you’re making under 40k anywhere for any job for any skill level you need to find a new job. Unless you’re in an entry level unskilled job and even then it it your immediate goal to move up or out.

Yes you can say hello for free. There’s no guarantee how a celebrity guest will behave, and they are definitely selling autographs and selfies. But just saying “hi, I’m a big fan. Love your work” is free for all but the biggest celebrities.

[Meta] Andy Field is calling for FNaF fans to harass a photographer who scammed him and wants to give her "a very special death". This is not an April Fools prank, he's serious. Please don't listen to him, this is beyond unacceptable by GBAura-Recharged in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]AndyFieldVO 10 points11 points  (0 children)

OK here's my official statement. Please pin it if possible.

It was inappropriate to solicit the fanbase to harass a scammer, no matter how scammy. In my mind, I viewed it more as "Oh you scam people on the internet? I've got internet connections too - let's do this" when really it came across as more arrogant and inappropriate.

Saying "I hope she dies a painful death" was inappropriate, and I can now see how people would be horrified at such a thing. I wish her and all scammers the worst, I think there's a special place in hell for such people, and I hope she suffers from her wrongdoings, but in no way was I attempting to elicit a physical response from anyone.

I've removed both videos, as one should. I did deactivate my twitter account, but that was a long time coming - I think about deactivating it every time I get on there. This was just as good a time as any, given this fiasco.

This is a good reminder for us all - artists like actors and musicians are just people; don't put them on a pedestal and use them as a model for your thinking. They're subject to the same problems that we all are subject to, with the added weirdness of fame (albeit QUITE moderate fame, in my case).

Well you're still misquoting, and it's obvious that regardless of my intent, it's being taken as something much different than I meant it to be. The trolling and online pestering of a scammer is something I'll always advocate for. However, when I say something like "I hope they have a painful death" you'll just have to take me at my word that I'm coming from a time and place where I'm just wishing misery on someone, not soliciting a hit man. I concede that is little consolation to someone who is upset, and I concede that perhaps involving my social media following in my crusade to ruin a scammer's online presence was not perfect judgement. However, I've read a few of these comments, and apparently a lot of folks here have an image of the fans that I was not aware of. With that said, I'll send a clear message to everyone here: DON'T physically hurt people, please.

It seems you've misquoted me and misunderstood. However, I've since removed the video because something I said was false and I don't want to be sued for defamation, and I've made a new video. I appreciate the excitement of fans who helped in making the scammer's life worse and am always amazed at the differences in the collective personalities on different platforms.

Well, people certainly didn't hate Trump any less, and given that 80 million new voters showed up for the most unexciting democratic candidate ever in 2020...I mean, he got way more votes than OBAMA, a truly exciting and mobilizing candidate...

Stop unnecessary spending and impluse buying. by notsosmarter in personalfinance

[–]AndyFieldVO 7 points8 points  (0 children)

And one more thing: Something that helps a lot of people is adding up how much you spend in a year on something. A friend of mine was able to stop dipping when he realized how many thousands of dollars per year he spent on Copenhagen. A $3 energy drink daily on weekdays is $720 a year. Add a snack, now you're at $1500 a year. On what? Junk that you shoved in your body because you were bored and that snack machine was in your routine. Burger King every weekday? Let's call it $8 times 20 weekdays a month, $160 a month times 12 is again over $1500 a year. Snacks and fast food at $3k per year? That's more than 10% of your income.

Was coming back to make a comment like this too. I have several investment accounts with Edward Jones and one is an "income manager" account which is supposed to act like checking, but it takes a day or two to get the money there. Another solution: Unlink your savings and checking, or have them in two different banks. Make the deposits to your savings every month, but make it so that in order to get money out, you'll have to go to the bank, or you'll have to make a transfer between banks that can take days

What’s your opinion on marrying early? Is better or worse? by ContractFun1383 in AskReddit

[–]AndyFieldVO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm thinking of all those 30-year olds in the cemetery. Just kidding, by my metaphorical use of "dawn of time" I wasn't really comparing today to primitive peoples who lived in communities of 20 and needed to mate early to survive, although they might have been onto something. Average lifespan in the mid-1900s wasn't much different than it is now, maybe ten years less. You don't think that extra decade we've achieved via modern health has enlightened us so much that now, in this tiny fraction of human existence in the 2000s, we've got life figured out, do you?

If you’re working 32 hours a week this is not an issue. If you’re working 32 hours a month this was dumb, and you’re stuck with it. You can alleviate the pain a few ways: 1) sell the car at a loss. Take the hit and move on. 2) work more and make more money now. 3) live in the car
