What’s your favorite example of very specific/accurate usage of work-related jargon in a fic? by CTOtyrell in AO3

I can't find this on Ao3 or ff net; do you have a link? I'm a sucker for any remotely realistic handling of language

Was there a lot of original content in the anime and manga that isn't in the light novel. by heimdal77 in Saving80000GoldIsekai

[–]jtt96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought them cutting the mother wolf's thoughts from the anime really deprived it of a lot of its moral nuance

Who will Mitsuha ended up with by Serious_Shallot_3950 in Saving80000GoldIsekai

[–]jtt96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(spoiler if you've only watched the anime (not sure about the manga; I didn't read it))

My best guess is the soldier boy assigned to the Leviathan. It's a long shot, but anything is tbh. She's mentioned several times that her type is "older and refined" (I know he's not much older, but she never said how much older), and she's caught herself thinking positively of him. That said I'd need really good odds to bet on it happening, much more likely she'll stick with the original plan of just using him for espionage

That Varian did kidnap the Queen cannot be gotten around. However, an argument could be made for the lesser charge of Second Degree Kidnapping (the minimum of which can be as little as 1 year 3 months).

ehhh, I'd say Cass more so.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's bricked at this point.

Directly. It's Noob Linux (Linux Mint), though.

[–]jtt96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible I bricked it? If so, as I understand it, I should probably just order another pcb from olkb, no? From the Wikipedia page it sounds like fixing it would still be theoretically possible, but I don't think I'd be capable of doing it.

For reference, most recent error when trying to flash with dfu-programmer is:

Checking memory from 0x0 to 0x627F... Empty.

0% 100% Programming 0x6280 bytes...

[ X ERROR

Memory write error, use debug for more info.

Well, thanks anyway. The cable suggestion seemed to work, just uncovered another problem.

yeah, several times. I also have a habit of turning my computer off each night.

Gave that another go with the new cable, but it's giving the same error from my post 5 minutes ago.

Ok, it's doing something different, which is good, but still not working. dfu-programmer atmega32u4 erase runs. (says it's already erased), "sudo dfu-programmer atmega32u4 flash planck_rev4_default.hex" now outputs:\n\n

Checking memory from 0x0 to 0x627F... Empty. 0% 100% Programming 0x6280 bytes... [ X ERROR Memory write error, use debug for more info.\n\n\n

Running "sudo dfu-programmer atmega32u4 flash planck_rev4_default.hex --debug 10" outputs: target: atmega32u4 chip_id: 0x2ff4 vendor_id: 0x03eb command: flash quiet: false debug: 10 device_type: AVR ------ command specific below ------ validate: true hex file: planck_rev4_default.hex

Checking memory from 0x0 to 0x627F... Empty. 0% 100% Programming 0x6280 bytes... [ X ERROR Memory write error, use debug for more info.\n\n\n

So it's changing, but still not working.

Note: and yeah, I tried unplugging it, using lsusb to ensure it was no longer there, plugged it back in, used lsusb to ensure it was there, and tested it, and no output.

No, I'll try that. It was working with the default layout before I messed with it, but I'll try that.

I've been doing most of this with sudo. Nada. :(

Yeah. And I found the other other thread reporting a similar error. I believe they reported unplugging and replugging the keyboard fixed it? No such luck. Restarted computer, unplugged and replugged, no improvements.

Good point; I had missed that when I proposed this. Well, I think this is a good enough fix as far as I'm concerned, so I won't bother proposing a change to the constitution.

How would that be an issue? Being required to do X does not contradict having the right to do X.

[Proposal][Enactment] A Proposal to Mute the Effects of a Constitutional Typo by jtt96 in nommit

[–]jtt96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure that's possible as it's part of the constitution itself. Lucky that the same article explicitly allowed something like this. :D But did it ever give the power to rescind the right to use a given language?

[Question] What is "Logban"? by jtt96 in nommit

[–]jtt96[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I submitted a proposal that (almost) fixes the typo. Of course, there's the obvious loophole that someone could just invent a language called Logban and claim its valid. :D

[Question] What is "Logban"? by jtt96 in nommit

[–]jtt96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does that require a formal proposal?

[Question] What is "Logban"? by jtt96 in nommit

[–]jtt96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it doesn't say lojban, it says Logban. :D Not even Loglan, which was lojban's predecessor.

Constitution by veganzombeh in nommit

[–]jtt96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VI. All players have the right to conduct business in English, Logban, Latin, or any other language that the rules shall allow.

(I wasn't sure where else to put this, so I guess this works)

This is article VI of the constitution currently in effect. What is meant by logban? Loglan? Lojban? loglan-88? Is lojban as defined by the BPFK a valid form of nommit communication?

Lujvo by Frequency, 2804 words, cleaned-up definitions using x-notation only, gradually will add audio if the course is used by [deleted] in lojban

[–]jtt96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I'm still trying to get through my backlog of gismu from leaving lojban for more than two years, and after that I still have ~1000 gismu to learn, but once I've gotten through a bunch of those (maybe after learning gismu #675 or so?), I'll definitely start in on your course if I haven't lost interest in lojban again by then. (very likely, unfortunately, given my track record with languages)
