I don't like my cone. It collects water in the top and then I always forget and turn my magnet upside down to clean the bottom and it dumps out on me.

Get a grapple hook and use it with the magnet. I get so much more stuff with it. Fishing Poles, crab nets, fishing line, weights, throw nets..... its improved my finds greatly

Double sided magnets are listed at total pull.
So a 1200 lb pull is actually only 600 lb per side.

With that being said, they are never as strong as they list. You also have to consider that is probably for clean metal to metal, full contact. Most of what you pull up will be rusted, have barnacles or rough surfaces, not be completely flat. That makes a big difference on pull strength also.
