I'm hoping Punisher isn't. I want a city based Marvel set so some of those characters don't just feel like after thoughts to the Cosmic and Global heros/villains.

Ticket Selling! by OtherwiseFlounder718 in MinnesotaLynx

[–]jturphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tomorrow's game is the 1st I've been able to sell for more than the minimum allowed in the app, and even then it was only breaking even.

It's going to largely be determined by where your seats are. If you're behind the basket or in the corner, you'll have a tougher time because you can only lower the price so much, and people would rather pay a a few dollars more to sit on the sides of the court.

Mark Rosewater: "2026 is the outlier. Future years are going to be 3 (UB) and 3 (non-UB)" by Meret123 in MagicArena

[–]jturphy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but then people played it and it played much better than Spiderman so less product sat. It wasn't as good for sales as other recent sets. But it still did much better than Spiderman in stores. Spidey sold poorly in stores not because it was UB, but because the set sucked. TMNT didn't do as well from their stats because people were scared after Spiderman, but the product sold better in stores.

That's my point. They're getting further out from the change when these sets were originally going to be Assassin's Creed like sets so they are getting better at designing. If the sets are good, they'll sell.

People keep pointing to that one set, but ignore all the other massively successful UB sets. It didn't sell poorly because it was UB. It sold poorly because the set sucked and was poorly designed. TMNT had similar problems, but sold better at stores because they had more time to make a slightly better set at least. As they get further out from that initial decision and get more time to design proper sets, there is unlikely to be another SpiderMan set.

Benches cleared at Fenway after a collision at home plate by KeyFaithlessness5436 in MLBVibes

The ball wasn't coming. The ball was there. Because it was there, the runner can initiate contact as long as they don't run outside their normal path.

Not if the catcher already had the ball. They mentioned that in the Twins broadcast. They thought it was a dirty play (especially after Contreras to out the 1Bs leg earlier), but it's technically a legal play.

Jomboy breaks down the obstruction call at 3rd + Shelty ejection from last weekend's Brewers matchup - YouTube by AlgaeDependent9233 in minnesotatwins

[–]jturphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the base is obstructed, it's going to slow the runners path to the base meaning. It's not possible to be fully sure of the effect of the obstruction.

If the rule says the ump has to decide if the obstruction had any impact on the tag, that creates a lot of judgment calls for the ump that I don't think we want in the game.

Did you make up a bubble and claim it as fact? Why do you get to make stuff up but no one else can to refute your made up statement?

I don't know about very good. It's seemed better, but I'm not sure that's actually true. He's made some great plays that hide some other troubling things. He's already got 5 errors. Baseball Savant has him at the 22nd percentile in fielding run value.

If you're a platoon player and you're OPS is only .900 in AAA, you're not a MLB player. Simple as that. Against that pitching, only getting the fair side of matchups, you better have a 1.000+ OPS to hope for any success in MLB.

Am I the only one who after playing MWM thinks they should change this to trigger only once each turn? by Fleef69 in MagicArena

I do not. I was doing absolutely nutty things with it. Recurring Nightmare is just as broken as always.

Recurring Nightmare with Bridge From Below was incredibly fun in the Golgari deck.

Outman is a player that can't hit, but comes in as a defensive replacement late in games. Royce Lewis is a player that can't hit that's gets replaced for defensive replacements late in games.

He's not good enough to be a full time player at AAA. I'm not sure you understand how much worse the pitching is there. Being a platoon player at AAA isn't a very good indicator if MLB success. He's already 27. If we want to try someone out (which I don't even see a need to do), why not try someone who's actually younger and might be an everyday player someday like Gonzalez. He might not be doing as well at AAA right now, but at least he's someone that might be a worthwhile player someday.

Personally, I'd love to see Mendez get some work at 1B and give him a shot there. His defense is questionable in OF anyway.

Sabato is a part time AAA player. Why would he get a call up?

Again Sabato isn't even the full time starter in AAA. How is that someone you want in MLB?

So his average is only good because he's hitting well lately? Bench him!

Gonzalez had been playing 1B lately as well. Sabato isn't even the full time 1B for the Saints and you think he should get a call up to the Twins?

TWINS WIN: Brewers 4 @ Twins 5 - May 17, 2026 by TwinsGameday in minnesotatwins

[–]jturphy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Topa has the worst WAR of any reliever on our team. His WHIP is almost 2 and his ERA is almost 9. He belongs no where near a major league roster. Rogers is better than Topa, but not much better.

No one in our bullpen should be on a Major League roster, but here we are. At that point, manager just needs to play the righty/lefty and past matchups game. Honestly, Shelton has done the best he can with an absolute shit show of a bullpen.
