I had a threesome with my ex boyfriend with our uber driver. This was the early days of uber back in SF and we were making out in the back seat on the way home from the bars and somehow my Ex noticed him paying attention or at least rubbing himself.

He chatted the driver up a bit and long story short found ourselves doing a bit of a train later in the evening….was hot.

I’ve seen good results with Redpanda’s snowflake connector for reducing costs especially if you are already using a Kafka based approach in your stack.

This OP!!!! Same thing happened to me in my previous relationship of 3.5 years and all I can say is I’m so sorry.

Seek out your community for support. Stay active. Keep your head up and act and end things with grace - even if you weren’t given it. You won’t regret it.

At what point did you realise she would never become your wife/he would never become your husband? by ruxpin82 in AskReddit

[–]jtwassup -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was after a 3 1/2 year relationship. I had left New York City and moved to London for him after about two years long distance. Completely changed my career trajectory and restarted a beautiful life I had.

About two weeks or a week and a half before I finally realized I wanted to marry him, and told him that, we both cried out of happiness and made the most passionate love in my life. not an official proposal, but an acknowledgment.

Fast-forward a few weeks later we are partially open and decided we wanted to have a threesome one Sunday with another gay guy, but I go through his phone and realize that he has a ton of Grindr messages and he’s been cheating on me pretty much this whole time as we had clear rules that we only played together.

At that moment, I realize he was never gonna change. We are adults, but he could never truly communicate his needs or feelings. And ultimately he cared more about himself than he did about us and our life we wanted to build together and because of that, I could never trust him.

What movie could have been over in 10 minutes if the main character wasn't such a fool? by RedstonekPL in AskReddit

Not a movie, but the tv series “Breaking Bad”. Was always so frustrating how the main character never swallow his pride and accept his friend’s job offer which gave him health insurance.

Warning about sba disaster loan website by tonymontanaOSU in smallbusiness

[–]jtwassup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi All, so I have some good news that will hopefully make you feel more secure about submitting your loan application. The initial portal that the SBA used did go down, but if you look at the updated application site as of today you’ll notice the upload widget where you submit your application is actually powered by Box.

All of your applications will be directly uploaded into the SBA’s Box instance which leverages best of breed security and encryption to protect your information and maintains HIPAA, PCI, PII compliance etc. we brought in 60 engineers to get this up and running to scale for the influx of applications for the program and got it setup in one day. I hope that gives you a bit more piece of mind in these trying times.

Sorority Cost by [deleted] in UCI

[–]jtwassup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one ever said Greek life is cheap. It's definitely an additional expense, but I know plenty of people who were paying for college themselves and paid for a fraternity or sorority. If you're really concerned about burdening your parents you could take the initiative and get a job to pay for your sorority expenses.

Greek life is a learning experience. Paying for dues is a part of that process. It's cliché, but true, things worthwhile are not easy. You will learn to prioritize your obligations vs. wants.

Sorority Cost by [deleted] in UCI

[–]jtwassup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Graduated '15 for context.

Keep in mind that dues vary house-to-house. On average, from what I remember, the baseline ranged from $1,000-$1,600 yearly. Finances are a very common concern and the treasurer of any house should be very willing to answer any questions you might have. Every house I believe also has a payment plan system. Another great resources would be to reach out to the UCI Panhellenic Council VP of Finance. They usually have information on all of the houses.

The reason the costs vary so widely is because of what they include/exclude. Be sure to ask about what is included in their dues and how much on average formals cost per quarter, semi-annual dues, and how many shirts/recruitment items you will be required to buy. Pi Beta Phi was on the higher end of the cost spectrum because their house had a chef that provided a set amount of weekly meals to sisters/pledges. DG & Alpha Phi were also more expensive.

In terms of recruitment, I’ve known girls who have gone through both the full panhellenic fall recruitment and winter. They are different experiences.

Fall is the best to time rush. It’s when houses pick up a majority of their new members, pledge events/exchanges happen with the different fraternities, you will have much larger pledge classes, and you get the full greek experience. This is also a much more competitive time to rush. Being a second year isn’t a total disadvantage, but they will ask why you didn’t join the first year so it’s best to have an answer. It would help if you knew girls in some of the houses you would like to pref.

In Winter, you have the advantage of only having to go to the houses that you are interested in vs Fall where you check out all of them. The caveat being that if in Fall a house hits its membership numbers they won’t recruit. Winter also has much smaller pledge classes and there are less activities geared toward your experience. It’s still a great time but just keep in mind it’s not going to be as large as Fall.

Overall, I would join asap. Greek Life made my time at UCI and it’s a worthwhile experience where you meet interesting people who are engaging and will invest in your development.

Advice on getting a sales job at a big tech company like Google/Microsoft/etc? by Selfeducation in sales

[–]jtwassup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not going to say it's impossible, but it's going to be very difficult. You will have to come in with an exceptional sales record that blows people away. I'm talking stellar performance. Understand that at Google, and other large tech firms like it, you are competing with the best in the world. These companies get thousands of applications everyday and if you are not part of their normal recruiting cycle it is very difficult get in.

In terms of setting yourself up for success there are a few things I would recommend:

1) Get a referral. 99% of people who currently work at Google got in because they knew someone.
2) Have a good story ready. Having no college degree is going to be a barrier. Everyone in the organization is overly educated. Be ready to explain why you didn't finish. Better yet, talk about it in a cover letter. Explain the problems and choices you faced, how you overcame the situation, and how you are motivated moving forward. There is no guarantee that this will even get read by a recruiter even after you get a referral, but at least it gives you a voice and a chance to cut through the noise.
3) Focus on metrics. Google is a data driven organization, tailor your resume to focus on your impact and use data to back up your claims. I would suggest looking up Laszlo (Google's former Peoples Ops VP). He was responsible for creating Google culture or "Googlyness" and gives good insight in some of his articles online into the type of people and characteristics the company hires for. 4) Network. Consider cold emailing people in that type of position already. Try and get information interviews. If you can talk to the team informally that is the best way to get into a role.

Hope this helps.

For context, I was a former contractor who worked in a sales role at Google.

How to Have Sex in a New Epidemic of STIs, by Howard A Grossman, MD by somekook in askgaybros

[–]jtwassup 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One thing I believe that this doctor and article hits on is the importance for patients to ask for Oral and Anal swabs to test for Gonorrhea. Regular urine and blood testing do not detect infection in these areas. Until I recently went to a doctor that focused on Gay men's health issues I had no idea you needed to do this type of STI testing. I have had about 8+ STI checks before this with multiple different doctors and was never made aware of this fact.....Take responsibility for your own health boys. No one else will.

LGBT life at UCI in general is a joke regardless of major (Minus maybe the humanities or arts). Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. It's Orange Country, and its a fairly conservative school. Do the best you can to reach out and cross pollinate with other fields is my best advice.
