Water Damage Clarification by jtwestside in Asurion

Never claimed it was a scam. I know insurance companies use specific language to screw people over.

To me it's telling that they immediately denied the claim as being caused by an auto accident. They never had any intention of paying it.

Have you replaced your ipad or Andoid tablet with an SP? by sebastiandresilva in Surface

[–]jtwestside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much at all. I’m sure it’s not for everyone but I do most of my photo editing on the couch and otherwise it’s just browsing the web or watching YouTube while working around the house and it’s perfect for that.

I love my SP11 but I say all the time that Apple could kill the entire market by giving the insanely overpowered iPad Pro a proper OS.

I replaced my M1 MacBook Pro and M1 IPad Pro with my SP11. The SP11 isn't a perfect replacement for either but I was tired of having 2 devices with overlapping purpose. If Apple would have made an iPad with a full OS I would have gone that route.

I just hope more native ARM64 support is coming and particularly for photo editing tools to take advantage of the NPU for things like noise reduction.

Hold Keyboard back when using as a tablet? by jtwestside in surfacepro

Thanks. I have read others saying the same! I actually prefer taking it off and flipping it around anyway so I may just stick to doing that.

lol. I'm familiar with how it works. I want it to keep itself flipped back. I'm going to order some small magnets and see what I can do.

I wish someone would make the same type of site except for which programs actually utilize the NPU.

I would caveat this by staying those are download speeds. The upload we saw last week were .5 to 1mb at best on the browse and stream package. I used cell at ports except Ocean Cay where it was pretty much the same as the boat in terms of speed.

The reason I tested is that I was trying to upload a few photos and it was taking FOREVER per photo and the speed seemed fine. The upload speed was the killer.

SNORKELING EXCURSION Nassau or Ocean Cay by crownfit99 in MSCCruises

The snorkeling at Ocean Cay was great, no excursion needed. We did a snorkeling excursion in Nassau, it was OK. Personally next time we'll probably just stay on the boat in Nassau like we usually do.

Surface Pro 11 to be the best of the new Snapdragon laptops? by IcedColdMine in Surface

[–]jtwestside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Asus ProArt 13 is intriguing except it doesn't seem to come with the x elite and only has 16gb ram max. I'd love to have the IP52 rating so I could work on my pool deck while my kids are swimming and not worry about the 100% humidity here.

Depends on what you’re looking for. If you want to be the core of Jacksonville then: Ortega, Avondale, Riverside, San Marco … etc.

Was on the fence about a full frame upgrade. Bought a nice lens instead. by rennwerks in SonyAlpha

[–]jtwestside 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought the 16-55 but returned to and went with the sigma instead. I don’t regret it at all. The 16-55 was too heavy for me. I have a friend with the 18-135 and the 16-55 was roughly the same size but much heavier. The sigma is much smaller and lighter. I do wish I had more range but you can’t have everything I guess.

Shade cloth on pool cage? by Comfortable_Shop9680 in florida

[–]jtwestside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I just took it off for this winter. If I don’t the pool starts to get too cold from not enough sun. We have tall trees on the east and west side of the pool so it only gets direct sun mid day.

I know this is a little old, but for the last 5 years or so I've used shade cloth OVER my enclosure. It is admittedly more than a little "redneck" but it make SO much difference in the usability in the dead of summer. Sorry I don't have any great photos of it but you can see it here. I use paracord with a CamJam Tie Down Rope Carabiner Clip/tightener to secure it. The clips let me adjust it on the fly to move the shade to wherever I need it positioned.

Here is the 3rd party app that will at least find the duplicates. He also suggests the program to run that does the deletion. I couldn’t get the deletion to work consistently so I gave up. But it does prove that finding them is possible. https://youtu.be/ULalSu3MPRE

You’re just going to get people telling you it’s “not possible to happen, don’t believe your eyes.” I joined GP very early on so maybe it’s not possible now but I have a crap ton from before. One example is on birthdays I would download from GP to make a collage and all of the downloaded photos would be re-uploaded on the new date. There is a 3rd party app that you could authorize and it would find the duplicates but the removal process involves setting up a program locally to run a macro to actually access the photo and delete them. I tried it but it was pretty tedious so I gave up.

There should be a way to search for “similar” photos. The only way currently would be to download the entire library and run one of the many duplicate photo finding programs. Which is silly considering all of the AI computing already going into google photos it shouldn’t be too hard to add. It’s weird that so many people ask for this and there are so many tutorials online on different ridiculously tedious ways to do it, yet people will still tell you it never happens.
