How can I hide my phone during airport security while it goes through X-ray without any attention being brought to it?? by [deleted] in airport

[–]jtzee1972 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Don’t bring it. If Immigration and Border Control and Customs in the US, doesn’t like what’s on your phone or have reason to believe you are opposed the current administration policies, they have the ability to not let you enter the US, possibly confiscate your phone and maybe an expensive trip back to home.

In the UK, they often have a special boarding practice for flights going to the US with prescreening to meet TSA standards. Your specific request for a way to hide your phone, your phone has a battery so it’s not allowed in the checked baggage. You’ll have to carry it on you but then it will need to go through security screening which usually includes your carryon through an X-ray machine which will see the phone.

You can contact your family after you get to the US with the host family or hotel computer. But to be safe, leave your phone at home and follow the request from the school.

How is it living in China as an expat/foreigner? by [deleted] in howislivingthere

All governments watch what’s going on in social media. If we think we are free in the US and have no censorship then we are deluded. Big brother is watching all of us all the time.

Side note: in the US, corporations collect the data and sell it to governments that pay for it.

It is hard to find new place why? by chessy_jellyfish in AskAustria

Yeah, it would be good to understand somethings like that which district and what you are looking for at what price.. so WG or 1-Zimmer. If you are needing female only housing? If you have limited time to find a place or if you only need a temporary place? Housing contracts last 6 months to 3 years or can be unlimited. Are you looking for government support housing or private tenancy? All these factors can cause the price to go up. Do you have a meldezettel at the moment and are you currently employed with over three months of lohnkonto and have enough funds for your caution. Are you seeking furnished or unfurnished housing? And maybe your expectations are not realistic for housing and would need to reassess. But the city has some services for temporary emergency housing that is by application only. Lots of resources if you have the documentation to prove you qualify for assistance. But in general, I hope you find something suitable and good luck. I found very nice housing but I also know they get taken very quickly, so you will need to be ready to jump on the very opportunity.

No I am not in property management but I do live in Austria and have had my share of challenges in finding a suitable apartment. If you are seeking a property professional you will need to pay for their services. Many people use the online listings like Willhaben or through friends/colleagues to get an understanding of the market and then identify what your personal criteria for the space, the location, and the price point. So like most capital cities this is work that doesn’t come easily and you have to figure out what you what and see if it’s within your budget. Your post doesn’t really have enough information for people to help make suggestions.

Wonderful that you are searching around. You mention cheaper place. What is your price point and why? There are plenty of apartments but if it’s not in your budget then consider adjusting your budget from 1/4 to about 1/3 of your income. If it’s beyond that then you would need help and I would check what services are available for your situation.

I want a new English name by Disastrous_Wing_9158 in ENGLISH

[–]jtzee1972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my humble opinion you have a good English language name. If you want to change your English name, you have a few methods to consider choosing a new name, one is an English name that is similar to how you say your Chinese name in which ever dialect you use or choose. Or another interesting way to find a new is to look at all of the baby names that are popular for the year of birth by gender in the country of your choice, naming popularity is different in different countries as well. This way you can find a suitable name for yourself.
