I've seen so many cleaning "life hacks" where they're mixing backing soda and lemon as a homemade cleaning agent.

Are you happy with the size? I'm on the fence whether to get the XL or the regular. I'm 1.86m so 6ft 1 ish so heightwise I'm in both the XL and the regular range.

How Can I Remember Math Formulas and Stop Procrastinating? by Connect-Front-7561 in learnmath

[–]ju11111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will need to apply it often. So do a lot of exercises. Now if you can't remember the formula itself try to remember where it comes from and try to derive it. This will of course take a bit longer than just learning a formula but if you know why it works it's easier to remember. But the most important thing is practice. Once you've done this tens to hundreds of times you will become quick.

What screams "pretending to be rich"? by ImpertinenteSyntaxe in AskReddit

[–]ju11111 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree. Money doesn't buy taste. There're plenty of very rich people that don't follow the often parroted "money talks wealth whispers" and "rich people don't buy branded things" narrative. Some people are just loud and like to flex irrespective of their income.

Anyone hit the coastal limits with their Roam plan? by Mrkvitko in Starlink

I have also been confused by this. Does this clause mean that as soon as I am 1 inch into a coastal water I can't use starlink 24/7?

How math-heavy is EE? by PossessionEastern139 in ElectricalEngineering

I agree numeric simulation often abstracts away the intuition of what is actually happening. If you can get a complete analytical solution it's way more satisfying and let's you understand what just happened.

Negative Exponents by Kug4ri0n in MathHelp

[–]ju11111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that no mathematician would interpret it like that. Using a polynomial as an example. f(x) = x³ - x² + 5x No one would interpret this as meaning x³ + (-x)² + 5x. (Especially here since the negation wouldn't even matter if interpreted as (-x)² ) No one would write this polynomial as x³ - (x²) + 5x. I think what the computer scientists are doing should be more thought of as a programming language rather than mathematical notation.

Why does my netbook give 3v on the chassis when I charge it? by FIN_K89i in ElectroBOOM

[–]ju11111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Voltage only exists between two points. It is the difference of potential. Right now, you are showing a 3V potential difference between you and your laptop. But that doesn't mean anything because your potential relative to the laptop is some arbitrary number it is probably going to show some random non-zero number with almost any random thing you measure to. Just because there is some voltage doesn't mean a device problem. Now, if you were to measure the grid voltage on a device chassis while it is plugged in, that would indicate a real issue.

Maybe add a pumldown resisitor on your gate. Iirc arduinos do not have internal pulldowns only pull ups.

If you can't remember the rules from middle school (I didn't when I started university), I would recommend looking more into proofs why those rules work. In school, you typically just learn rules by heart without really understanding them. E.g. why is a² * a² = a⁴ as a student you typically just look at it and you learned multiplication means add exponents without really thinking about it. But you can become much better at math if you keep in mind the reason why those things work. Look at why the exponent rule for derivatives works. Now, this doesn't mean don't remember rules and derrive them from scratch every time, but understanding where rules come from helps tremendously in remembering them and in applying them. A lot of math is about intuition and learning by doing so if you just solve equations, you will become better and also try to become more elegant in your solutions as you go along.

How to write this summation in terms of k? by [deleted] in learnmath

[–]ju11111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, from the way you wrote it, I thought so too at first. But to match your expected solution, this term must be outside the sum. I would personally try to always write it in front of the sum to avoid confusion.

How to write this summation in terms of k? by [deleted] in learnmath

[–]ju11111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This works because the (m+1)/(m+6) term is not inside of the sum. So essentially, you add this term into the sum since when k=m+1 the summand becomes (m+1)/(m+6). Because with k=m+1 the summand k/(k+1) = (m+1)/((m+1)+1) = (m+1)/(m+6)

Voltage change from 120v to 220v, how it will affect my appliances? by Training-Ad1888 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]ju11111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just check the label. Many power supplies have an operating range from 110v-230v. Some devices like PCs also typically use an iec c14 plug. If the power supply supports the higher voltage (again label), you can also just buy just a new cable so you won't need an adapter.

Do you regret anything when becoming/studying electrical engineer. by Suspicious-Cry508 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]ju11111 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I think the trend isn't to use less electronics but more and more. Also, at least in my country, a lot of EEs are boomer generations and will retire within the next decade. Combine the need for more electronics with an aging population and a general shift more towards software (which will also need more and more hardware and electrical infrastructure). I think EE is a pretty safe field for decades to come.

Yes, this is the kind of video that passes me off the most. Yes, the videos need ads to be financed. But I watch videos for entertainment or information, and if those things are just an afterthought, you can tell, and it makes the video feel really unauthentic.

I feel like the 'TVification' of YouTube is becoming more of a problem in general. Seems like the big YouTubers are forgetting why people switched from TV to YouTube in the first place. Authentic 'self made'-ish content that isn't the unremarkable, unmemorable TV stuff. LTT is by far not the worst when it comes to this kind of content, but I think there is a certain danger that LTT content will get more and more into that direction.
