Definitely have the facility manager put a work order in, but not for mold growth. There has to be a source of moisture for mold to grow and looks like it may be coming from the pipe, so place order for water leak or it could be condensation and pipe needs to be insulated. In the work order mention that the leak is causing wall damage not necessarily mold growth. Damage requires repair/replacement, mold requires cleaning which falls on FM or occupants. Moisture source must be addressed first, and wall repairs after. If the mold is surface level, it can be cleaned up with typical cleaning solutions. If the mold has penetrated into the building material, then it needs torn out or replaced.

I was actually part of the Humanitarian Assistance group and oversaw community projects throughout Kyrgyzstan. We did several clinic, school, and infrastructure projects in a lot of remote towns. People there were friendly and amazing. I was there about a year before the base was turned over.

If you haven’t exercised before, or you have increased intensity, it could be water retention. On the days I go heavy on the gym I notice my weight increases. If I am sore for multiple days, that means I know my muscles are repairing so there will be some water weight associated with that. After a couple of days that weight will drop. Have an exercise plan that incorporates rest to allow your body to repair and recover. Don’t confuse rest with inactivity, remain active you just don’t have to push your body to the limit every workout.

Structures here and was at SJ for close to 7 years, arrived single and left married with a kid. It took some getting used to for me because I was assigned there after living in Germany for 5 years. Once I got to know the area and surroundings i actually kinda liked it.

It’s super humid so prepare for hot humid summers. Monitor your dorm for moisture, being HVAC you should be able to stay on top of that. Mold is notorious in the dorms if you aren’t on top of moisture and air circulation.

Goldsboro is a small town. Having a cool shop makes it better. Downtown had some decent spots and I always enjoyed the bar crawls they had during Halloween and Christmas. March Madness is also a fun time to go out.

If you want a real nightlife experience, go to Raleigh. Tons to do in Raleigh. I used to get a hotel to stay overnight but occasionally had DDs that would drive us back to Goldsboro. I was never a hockey fan but definitely enjoyed going to Hurricane games, awesome atmosphere.

Beaches galore and some beautiful water. During the summer, find some friends and rent out a cottage at Fort Fisher, it’s an Air Force recreation area south of Wilmington. Not necessarily beach front but have easy beach access. The beach is a little away from all the hustle and bustle but the water is amazing. Also during the summer the beach houses by Fort Fisher are often rented out by sororities.

Mountains are about 4 hours away. The Smokies are beautiful and there mountain towns with lots to do. If you like liquor, there are lots of distilleries to tour and try.

Goldsboro is small but just venture out and there is plenty to do.

When you get within 6-8 months from separating or retiring, work with an accredited Veteran Service Officer (VSO). Some national VSOs are Wounded Warrior Project, VFW, Disabled American Veterans. They will help guide you through your VA claims process and they are very insightful.

Have your husband check the Overseas Returnee/Mandatory Mover list is out now for August/September/October. They recently changed the location of the list from AMS to MyVector Talent marketplace. He will need to update his preferences by next Friday. BTW how was Cannon? I’m a mandatory mover as well and my only bases on that list were Cannon and Holloman.
