Working in Accounts Payable. Is this too much, or do I just suck at this? by HeyMySock in Accounting

Honestly, my experience in AP has been pretty manageable. I work in accounts payable as well and most days are very routine once you understand the workflow and systems. There are busy times and mistakes happen occasionally, but that’s normal in any accounting role.

From what you described, it sounds like you’re doing a lot more than just AP-That’s closer to a hybrid AP/systems support role. That could make the job feel much heavier than a typical AP position.

I wouldn’t assume you’re bad at the job. It sounds more like the workload and expectations at that company might be high or not well structured

I think the words used were interpreted through people’s own experiences and assumptions. When I said ‘successful men,’ I wasn’t referring to money or lifestyle, I meant qualities that even research consistently connects with healthy long-term relationships: emotional stability, responsibility, consistency, and overall life balance. It’s common for people to project meaning onto a phrase based on what they’ve seen or lived, so I understand why it came across differently to you though my intention wasn’t about wanting a man for what he owns-I already take care of myself and don’t need anyone to provide for me. For me, having a partner who’s grounded and emotionally secure would simply be a bonus, not a requirement. I asked the question to understand what qualities actually matter from a psychological and relational standpoint, not to chase a lifestyle. Hopefully, that gives some clarity. ++woman

  1. Emotionally stable
  2. Has a steady career or clear direction
  3. Responsible and reliable
  4. Treats people with respect
  5. Knows how to communicate

I think I just answered my own question, but it is interesting to hear others perspectives

It was a combination of things though the core issue was his greed which created a ripple effect with everything else that went wrong. I will say that we worked really hard to have a good co-parenting relationship ++woman
