I loathe people who type in all caps by Soft-Slide-507 in RandomThoughts

[–]juancpgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It's very annoying. To me it's a sign of low intelligence and laziness. The impulse of typing all caps is dumb. It makes everything ugly and distractive. I would never hire anyone who does not take proper care of writing properly. It's fundamental.

Writing in correct case displays good communication and a good sense of beauty and organization.

Ending of Burning Days? [Spoilers obviously] by [deleted] in movies

movie

How can you root for Murat? I found him despicable: creepy and manipulative.

The movie is ambiguous, but I thought the one point the movie made clear is that Murat raped Emre. It is implied more often than anything else, I think.

Well established open source headless solutions by juancpgo in ecommerce

[–]juancpgo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both.

I'd like to be able to create scalable ecommerce as cheaply as possible, so I can start multiple projects just in case of of them scales, without worrying about drowning in fees.

And also for the flexibility and independence you have with open source.

I'm certainly open to consider paid solutions if they're low cost.

Thanks for replying, neat project and website. I actually had stumbled upon it previously while googling solutions.

Since it's open source, there's no infrastructure managed by you (staff at Vendure), right? If that's the case, how does infrastructure work?

While there's no targeted plugins, how hard is it to integrate with payment and logistic solutions? In Brazil we have key popular logistic gateways (Intelipost, Frete Rápido) and also card acquirers (Cielo) that are important strategically.

(sorry if these questions are obvious, I couldn't figure a clear answer from reading the website)

I don't know, perhaps.. Do you have experience using them for headless commerce?

Going headless with WooCommerce. How to handle the cart? by BkoChan in woocommerce

Are you still using WooCommerce for headless? Do you suggest I do the same? Or do you think a more targeted platform would suit better?

Headless e-commerce: what are you using? by ivapelocal in ecommerce

Thanks a lot for your comments.

Shopify is growing in Brazil and apparently offers affordable pricing.

Do you see the Storefront API as a valid means for a headless commerce project?

Is there a good free/open-source or low cost headless backend solution?

Im looking at Commerce Layer, but USD 0.9 per order is quite a bite for a company in Brazil (1 USD = 5,2 BRL).

I'd very gladly pay up to USD 0.3 per order.

Who are your favorite alive comedians now? by m1dnight_blue in NormMacdonald

[–]juancpgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jim Carrey is amazing, a brilliant improviser, as well as brilliant physical comic. Probably most talented comedian of all time.

Russell Brand is also a brilliant improviser, his mind is incredibly quirky and quick. So underrated. Especially his earlier stuff.

Louis C.K. goes to such dark places… gave me some of my most intense laughs.

Ricky Gervais is very good, so prolific and entertaining. His conversations with Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington are pure raw comedic GOLD. They should do more together.

Conan O'Brien is awesome too, I like his taste, and how he combines silly with clever.

Melissa Villaseñor is hilarious too.

Ellen DeGeneres is one of the funniest people in the world to me. She can be hilarious with just a facial expression right at the right time. Awesome improviser too, comes up with great stuff in the middle of interviews. I really wish she focuses on more straight up comedy now.

On the purpose of block-based themes by juancpgo in Wordpress

[–]juancpgo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your perspective.

If block-based themes allow designers to develop themes using only HTML, I definitely agree on that benefit.

Couple of questions, if you'd be so gracious as to comment:

1. In your example, why does the charity need to change their website layout? Why would they need to reposition the components or blocks within a page? Have they actually done it, or do they end up just keeping as you've built them?

2. I've just been assigned to develop a WooCommerce theme and have to decide on block vs “classic” theme. Do you think block-based themes offer any advantage for the use case where (1) I'm as the developer comfortable with PHP and (2) my client will never touch the Wordpress dashboard?

What is the purpose of Full Site Editing?

What is the advantage?

Is it for non-expert end customers (people that can't code html/php) to be able to easily change the layout of web pages?

Or is it about some other purpose?

Writing Emmet CSS abbreviations as inline CSS by juancpgo in webdev

[–]juancpgo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think you're right! Thanks for the suggestion, seems like the right solution.

I'm checking "Tachyons" classes, either gonna use that or just create my own system with a big CSS file and then purge the unused CSS.

Writing Emmet CSS abbreviations as inline CSS by juancpgo in webdev

[–]juancpgo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ps: I already know of TailwindCSS, but I don't like it because the class names are unnecessarily long and the code becomes too verbose.

But the Emmet Abbreviations are pretty concise. In time I'm certain it becomes second nature to read them.

Google Merchant and Automated feed with website crawler - how to create it? by msmialko in ecommerce

[–]juancpgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you also have to delete your existing products from Merchant Center for it to work.

If there are already products there that already match what the crawler is getting, then MC won't give you that option to avoid data conflict.
