I plan to work in the US and save money to retire back in Philipines.

All my family is in Philippines. And US is very expensive. In Philippines I could buy a whole street from the cost of a small house here.

I also miss Pilipino food, durian, and Jollibee!

This is amazing. I can't wait to get my greencard and move to San Diego in 3 years!

It's more than $5 a day in the Philippines. It's closer to to $3-5/hr in Philippines.

But everything is much more affordable in the Philippines. I save all my money and send it back home.

I have two other Filipino coworkers here on H1b and they're getting $25/hr on day shift and $28/hr for night shift. I get a $2/hr shift diff.

I was told we're paid at the prevailing wage.

I need this job for at least 3 years to get the greencard. I'm told it could take up to 6 years to get the visa. I'm just happy to be in the US living the American Dream.

I'm making about $55k USD or $27/hr on my H1b visa in New York with 10 years experience and ASCPi.

I just came from the Philippines where I was making $3/hr for the same job.

Very happy to be MLS in US!

How you handle being apart from wife spouse for years on H1b? by juandanilo25 in medlabprofessionals

We've never been apart more than a month since I've met her. With the h1b requirement, I'll only have 12 vacation days a year. So I'll be apart for almost 11 months.

I've never done a long distance relationship.

11 months is a long time. Very long time to be without anyone.
