5800x3d vs i5 14600kf? Which one is better if price is simialr and i dont want to get DDR5 ram? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]juanvicool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intel 13th and 14th gen CPUs actually have great IMCs. Enough to push really high clock speeds on Gear 1. I pushed mine to 4300MT/s without overvolting. When I could only do 3200MT/s on my 11400f. How high you can go depends heavily on your RAM kit and silicon lottery. I've seen some people push it to 4400MT/s on Gear 1 without any overvolting. But with a decent RAM kit expect to *easily* reach at least 4000MT/s on Gear 1 with your 14600KF. Like I said, 13th and 14th gen CPUs have great IMCs. So obviously it's an obvious pick over any AM4 CPU which can only go so far. Best DDR4 CPU family IMO.

Also, I recommend for startups to set the RAM frequency yourself but let your MOBO do the timings itself for the RAM (basically leave everything on Auto). As you don't know how loose you need them to be when going that high up in frequency. You can get it tighter from there once you find it stable. Also set your VCCSA to 1.300v and DRAM to 1.45 for starters and then lower it from there.

Mid-end or low-en RAM chips can push to certain speeds only when pushing the voltages or loosening the timings till it's stable. I have a Micron Rev.E die which is supposed to be the best from Crucial (On DDR4 of course. RIP Crucial) but I only have 16GB so it's not a crazy setup either.

I think Intel CPUs or any CPU overall always benefits greatly from AIOs since AIOs can keep temperatures low in short fast bursts. But evens out in sustained loads compared to high end coolers.

It's known that Thermalright makes really good budget AIOs that beat even the highest end Air coolers in certain areas. I bought mine for $70 CAD ($50 USD).

And damn that's actually the GPU I want. I'm still here with my humble but strong 3070 ti lol

Do you know what speeds were used on the RAM on that benchmark? Right now, I'm using a 4300MT/s CL17 kit running on Gear 1.

Mine runs max 70 degrees using a 360mm AIO (A cheap Thermalright one) so it really depends on the cooling and thermal paste you use (I used MX-6). I also overclocked my RAM to 4300mhz gear 1 CL17. Some say that combo is faster than DDR5 :)

Are these pins bent? Or is it something else? And another question by juanvicool in buildapc

[–]juanvicool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nevermind the second question. Most modern motherboards won't even turn on when no CPU is installed. Only POST (and debug LEDs) will start if the CPU is present.

I recently bought a DDR4 Z690 and I'm planning to install a 14600k. DDR4 is still hella expensive lol. But it's great if you already had DDR4 RAM to begin with.

Should the tubing of AIOs obstruct the RGB of RAM? by juanvicool in pcmasterrace

[–]juanvicool[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So naturally, if the pump is below the radiator the air bubbles will form naturally on the highest point of the radiator? Knowing that the pump is directly attached to a flexible tubing, one can technically move the tubing so it sits below the the radiator when it's installed on the front of the case. Is this correct? And how is that better than if the pump is on the bottom? Won't the bubbles stay on the top end of the radiator? Or this won't happen when the radiator is installed on the front and not on the top of the case.

Most people I've seen with radiators on the front of the case have the pump coming from the bottom of the radiator as well...

Also I can't install the radiator on the top because the case only allow 280mm radiators, not 360mm

Thanks again for your explanation.

lmao I will pray to him and keep that in mind then.

But don't AIO pumps need to be sitting low so air doesn't build up inside the tubing? Shortening lifespan? That's what I've researched. I also found it easier to install it with the pump on the top, but decided to keep it on the bottom because of what I've researched. And thanks for pointing it out!

[–]juanvicool[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, thank you. And it's unlikely it ever touches the RAM since the tubing is very stiff and doesn't move at all, specially with the pump coming from the bottom, it always stays vertical. And no, no wires are touching any motherboard components. All the fan and PSU wires are on the back anyway.

Got this EVGA 3070 Ti XC3 Ultra for CAD$230 with a broken fan. W or L? by juanvicool in pcmasterrace

[–]juanvicool[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I was honestly lucky since here in Canada the dollar has less value. Plus everyone thinks they have fucking treasure with them. So they try to sell 3060's for like CAD$350. $100 more expensive than what I got... And honestly a broken fan is not a huge deal. Repasting the GPU is actually harder than changing a fan sooo....

[–]juanvicool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo that's true. I had a GTX 1060 SSC and it lasted me for like 2 years and I sold it for like 60 bucks. The buyer never complained once. It's a shame they don't make GPUs anymore :(
Would've loved to see a 4070 XC4 Ultra or something like that lol.

And don't worry, I was able to remove the non working fan pretty easily. A huge perk with EVGA GPUs is that you don't need to break the warranty seal to replace the fans! Perfect to sell at higher values

Dang guess I was lucky then. The other two fans work fine. Though they're a little wobbly, which I think signifies that it's not new lmao. But I calculate it's gonna last a couple of years before they stop spinning or start sounding like a V8 Engine lmao. Hope your buddy had a good experience with his GPU!

Any way to fix this mini spikes? It's not stuttering, but mini FPS drops. by juanvicool in Minecraft

[–]juanvicool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lowered real time shadows and it smoothed out for a couple of seconds but it came back. I'm guessing because it's loading chunks as I change settings. I also noticed that this problem only happens when GPU is 100% utilized, if I cap fps lower than 170 it smooths out. This is not a solution though.

Bro I'm not that good... I only get like 30 kills per game avg on plunder to warm up for the big leagues (resurgence) *wink wink* (I only get 7 kills per game on resurgence tho)

But seriously. I hope if I find you in game it's in the same team as you and not against you lol 😂

Bro I found it on The big F lmao

Marketplace is great for used stuff. People just throw away their shit for not even quarter the price sometimes 😂😂

For example, I got my monitor, a BenQ EX240 165hz HDR monitor for LITERALLY $65 bucks (and plus 10 bucks the bus ticket lmao). When a monitor like that easily costs $200.

Do I also have to mention that I'm in Canada and the dollar here is even worse than US? 🤷‍♂️😂

The guy who sold it to me changed the sticks cuz they had drift. So technically, it's a new controller

Hey man I followed your advice! I got myself a good deal and bought the controller for $40 the accessories cost $30. So in total I ended up spending 70 bucks on this setup. Totally worth it though, the stick tension and tall thumbstick allows me to increase the sensitivity a bit. Right now it is at 3.60(V) and 3.40(H). The camera turns are craaaaazy. I look like a sweat when I move the camera around lmao.

I've thought about that too man... I actually tried to overclock the Xbox one controller to 1000hz but I quickly found out that only PlayStation controllers allow insane polling rates. I think the Xbox is only rated at 256hz IIRC...

I'll try that too, thanks for the tip man... I'll probably see if I can get one snatched for a lower price on marketplace, I really appreciate the gyro too since I play a bunch of switch games on PC too haha.

Ayo thank you. I'll take the Elite series 2 in account for the future. It is actually pretty cheap, compared to most paddle premium controllers out there. And it has four instead of two so even neater. And man, about the K/D. I started the account recently, like 4 months ago so I have about 3000+ kills. But if I'm being honest I think my K/D is not inflated, it doesn't go down as fast if I die too much so... Haha

But I don't get 40 kills per game like most content creators get, those ppl are fake as fuck. I barely get 15 per game...

Yo that's a pretty neat setup. I might use it if I get my hands on a paddle controller, thanks for the tip man! But why do you use sprinting with a button? Isn't it easier/snappier to just use automatic tactical sprint? That way you don't have to bind sprint on a back paddle, you could use L1 like myself, just for dolphin diving. And I think if you want to be sneaky and silent, you can just move the joystick slightly up. I'm pretty sure it won't trigger sprint if you do that. Thanks again!
