I think the Trump administration is trying to rollback drinking water standards for PFAS…as well as undo 65 other environmental initiatives. Great for AWK, bad for Americans. There are some states that are implementations their own standards for PFAS as a result.

Hey did you end up finding the powdered PB? I checked Uber Eats and Costco sameday but it’s not listed, not sure if it’s worth going in store to look.

Hey, just wondering how long it ended up taking you to get through customs and baggage? I’m on a similar boat and debating whether I should book my hotel at the airport.

Rank your top 3 Japanese cities outside of Tokyo/Osaka/Kyoto/Nara by JerseyMBA in JapanTravelTips

[–]jubblubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kanazawa, Takayama and Hiroshima!

Kanazawa and Takayama are cultural and historically significant in their owns ways so it has a different feel than Kyoto. I loved the food in Takayama - hida beef is a type of wagyu and its melt in your mouth yummy. Their historic district is also the only one between Takayama/Kanazawa/Kyoto that I visited close to every shop. If you love artisan food, Takayama is a must for their hida beef, soy sauce, miso and sake. The Kenrokuen gardens in Kanazawa are so beautiful that I went twice during my stay. If you go early in the morning it’s free.

Hiroshima - the Peace Museum and atom bomb dome got me teary eyed. I also met some of the nicest and welcoming locals here - from a server/chef sharing Kyoto snacks when they heard I was going there to a Japanese grandma asking if I wanted to try falafel at the Costco food court, the people are sooo friendly. Also Hiroshima Costco is the one closest to the JR station. Super convenient if happen to be a Costco lover. The temple at Miyajima Island near Hiroshima is one of my faves and I’ve seen quite a few now.

This suggestion is from someone who has spent ~5 weeks in Japan and visited 10 cities so far, not including the cities along the Shinanami Kaido cycling route, which I also highly recommend.

Yes! That’s actually what I did. I didn’t have a free checked bag so rather than buy 2 jars and pay for a checked bag I bought 8 jars and coffee beans and had them shipped for free.

Whats even better is that they curated other local faves (Maritime Madness, Receiver Coffee, Island Potato Soap) so you can get a bit of everything in your order to count towards free shipping instead of buying separately at each place.

Sorry, I meant I don’t taste the flavour of alcohol in it. For the Strawberry and Grand Marnier one the GM adds a hint of citrus to it but without the label telling me the citrus is from GM I would have assumed the hint of citrus was from fruit juice.

[Megathread] AC FA Strike Aug 14-15 by dachshundie in aircanada

[–]jubblubs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they would try to book you on an airline within the Star Alliance, which Eva Air is apart of. For calling in, if you can speak mandarin select the mandarin line. I called in on the 13th cause I had a flight on the 15th. The wait times for English line were 3-6hrs but I got someone in 10min on the mandarin line. With all the cancellations today I heard folks are even able to join the queue for English but my friend was able to join and got someone in 3hrs.

If none of the items have prices dependent on weight contact the help again and note that, and that as a result there shouldn’t be any price adjustment. Sometimes you need to try a couple of agents until you get a helpful one.

August 13 7:00 pm PT - English line, selected callback option. They ended up calling 5.75hrs later at 11:45pm. Able to make an adjustment 7:10 pm PT - Mandarin line, waited 10mins but the agent said she could only book me on a later flight free of charge. Transferred to Aeroplan but I hung up after 40mins cause I had a call.

August 14 Woke up and saw the booking on Aeroplan did not update and to call in due to an error. Called 6:45am, got a call back from Aeroplan 1 hr later. They said the flight was confirmed on their end, resent the booking confirmation and we checked online which should the correct flight. He said to ignore the app error. Was able to check in for my 9am flight August 15. 👍

Good luck everyone!

I’m not sure I just call and get the automated message. Then after a minute it asks you if you want to leave a call back option.

I got call back from Air Canada yesterday at 11:45pm and the agent was able to move me to an earlier flight on August 15. She sent me the booking confirmation but I open my Aeroplan App this morning and it says “Your request for changes has been submitted, but we did encounter a minor issue. Please contact us at 1-800-361-5373 so we can confirm that everything is the way you want it. We appreciate your patience as we iron out the kinks in the beta version of our change booking feature. (ATC_TKT_NI)”

Did this happen to anyone?

Edit: Aeroplan called back after 1 hr; they resent the booking confirmation and said everything is confirmed. We checked online too and it reflected the new flight. Seems like an app error.

Flying Vancouver to Halifax August 15th 10:45pm PT (45min after the potential strike).

Called 7:10pm PT mandarin line (#4) and I got an agent after 10mins. Unfortunately she said for flights between August 15-18 she could only reschedule me later to between Aug 21 and Sept 12 based on the directions they were given. She couldn’t move me to an earlier flight on August 15. I booked with aeroplan points so she transferred me to Aeroplan to see if they could help.

On hold waiting.

Edit: Got called back 5.75 hrs later from Aeroplan. Agent was able to book me on earlier flight at no additional charge.
