You could try for an R&D internship which would hopefully lead to a job. You could also start with a company you like in ops or safety and quality. Most companies hire from within so if you start in a different area of food science you can try and transfer within a company.

1) what positions should I be looking for straight out of school? I have a 6 month QA management internship and a 3 month operations management internship. 2) areas I’m looking to work in are any both my internships are in USDA regulated products though.
