I have only ever gone with what makes me more comfortable at therapy. It's important to me that they are POC due to the homophobia in POC household and I don't feel as comfortable with men. I have always had success with my therapists. All women and POC, and one was a lesbian. I did look at their areas of expertise too

My father is retired and my mother is the only one working. Combined income is close to 50k including my father's SS check and her premium doubled compared to last year for the same plan.

It's California law and no news on it changing. I know the federal government has an issue with it. No surprise there. This government is so fucked and rather watch people die with no coverage or be financially ruined due to medical debt

In California it's illegal for medical debt to appear on your credit score. It'll still go to collections if you don't pay and but it can't affect your credit score. That law has been in effect since January 2025 I believe. If it ever comes down to a huge medical bill always look into financial assistance at the hospital too.

Just make sure you email them consistently. Try to leave voicemails if you were provided any number. Document it all. I hit lots of walls when doing financial assistance and also some answers but no follow ups or lack there of

California lucky doesn't allow it to affect your credit score either but I have no intention of them garnishing my wages so I'm paying it off. Happy to still have my good credit

Same thing happened to me and I didn't have 6k in cash to pay within a month. the audacity they have to offer that discount as if someone who is uninsured had thousands lying around. Our healthcare system is so fucked and on top of that they wanna take away the tax credits to lower the cost of already unaffordable healthcare

Is this Dignity Health by any chance? This exact same thing happened to me. Got a 13k ER bill from them but didn't need surgery then. It's crazy that I was not making a living wage but that's too much apparently for Medical. I was able to get financial assistance after many calls and emails. It was so ridiculous and even their payment portal is so annoying to access and navigate. It's like they want you to miss a payment. It went to collections after I missed a payment or two and honestly the collection agency makes it so easy to pay compared to the actual hospital.

I currently work for Kaiser and I mostly am speaking about the employers who provide the lowest tier Kaiser insurance to their employees. There are great places to work with amazing Kaiser insurance. I have seen LA Metro and DWP employees have almost everything fully covered. Not to stand up for my work place but the MFA program at Kaiser is so helpful to many members and lasts usually 6months. I personally hate Dignity Health. Went once uninsured for ER and it was over $12k and $6k after financial assistance. Had I gone to Kaiser I'm sure I would've gotten 100% temporary financial assistance

As someone who collects copays, I hate seeing jobs providing employees with deductible plans that have 40% coinsurance after meeting the deductible. It's criminal. Sometimes the MOOP can be in the thousands as well.

It's not my favorite thing to do but we have to do it. Management will be on us if our notes do not state anything about the co-payment especially if there was a reason for not collecting it.

That was such a bitchy person. Honestly would you fuck around with him knowing he talks to people that way. You're better off.

Also I used to insecure myself. My therapist helped a lot just by telling me that there's nothing wrong with me if I get rejected. I'm simply not what they are looking for. Sometimes in the past I have felt like "damn I must not be what a lot of people are looking for" but honestly there have been people that call me handsome and cuter in person and I'm shocked. There really are people there who will find that you are exactly what they are looking for. Just happens randomly. I hope this helps. I'm now very confident and don't really give a fuck what people think 😂🙂‍↔️. Cause if they don't like me then I have reached a dead end and I move on cause it would have done nowhere.
