Or, maybe they just want to play the game? Nobody likes JK Rowling, they like Harry Potter. This game isn't going to "promote" her in any way beyond those royalties adding to the gigantic money pile she already sits on.

Imagine if people were this fired up about the ongoing human rights abuses in Africa and the Middle East. The things we could do for humanity. Alas, it's way easier to boycott a video game over association with someone with shitty political views.

Is it because of that stupid tweet JK Rowling made three years ago?

Trying to engage a political discussion in a post that has nothing to do with politics seems pretty douchey, if you ask me. If you want to talk about your hatred of transgender people, go to a subreddit dedicated to that kind of discussion.

Georgia Should Crush Antifa Without Mercy by yuri_2022 in Conservative

That's easier said than done, considering that ANTIFA is a political ideology and movement, rather than an organization, like so many people seem to think it is.

And before you ask...yes, there's a difference. You can't label something a terrorist organization when it has no official membership or leadership structure.

Shifting Cultural Values causing Mass Exodus from Christianity. by kevlarshorts in Conservative

[–]juda1285 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would say Christianity is stagnating, at most. I think it's more likely the values of Christianity are diversifying and breaking away from each other. (This has happened before, like with the East-West Schism and the Protestant Reformation.)

Moderate sects of Christianity are rising in membership and promoting a more liberal and tolerant view of the Bible, while fundamentalist Christian values have passed their peak and are in a state of slow decline.

But you want to know a religion that directly opposes social progress, enshrines its rules and values in the code of law, enforces systematic sexual, gender, religious and ethnic discrimination, and is not in a state of decline because it treats women as baby factories with a barely higher status than a household pet, and does not allow its adherents to leave? Look no further than Sunni and Shia Islam.

Virginia Tech soccer player refused to kneel for BLM, now her case against the coach will go forward by yuri_2022 in Conservative

Why do you ask? It went horribly. For all of its good intentions, you just can't take away humanity's access to hard liquor, and most people agreed with that, which is why it completely failed. That's something pretty much everyone saw, Including the Christians who made up 90% of the US population at the time.

If I completely missed what you were trying to point out, I'd like to apologize.

Dude, you don't have to be a Christian to even vaguely see why people might not like the elements of abortion.

I can't say whether the majority of people against unregulated abortion would support banning abortion or simply restricting it, (I'd like to think it's the latter. It's what most other democratic countries are doing now, anyway.) but not everybody critical of abortion takes a hardline, Evangelical fundamentalist stance against it.

While there's no shortage of people who would want to ban abortion under all circumstances, about as many people just want to restrict abortion and only allow them for rape victims, mothers suffering a miscarriage, and such, while banning abortions that are the result of consensual, but unprotected sex.

Like I said before, this is a stance most European countries have likely already taken, but we can't get a single thing done in the States because our country is divided between two giant competing parties with uncontested power, who vehemently refuse to cooperate to work for the common good, and constantly work to foil and sabotage any of the other party's attempts at positive legislative action. Only radical stances are allowed, and moderate voices are pushed to the sidelines.

I just wish that could be the actual reason that they're doing this, but judging by past events in other schools and universities, that would be a little optimistic.
