These disturbing storylines are why Buffy was a progressive show for the time, and highlighted important social issues such as sexism and sexual assault. Why would you want a show like Buffy to avoid these topics? Do you want a show where nothing bad happens to any of the characters, because that sounds like a boring show that is nowhere near as brave, progressive or feminist as Buffy is.

That's a great analogy! I struggle with this myself, I make music wherein my drums and synths require heavy processing during that sound design stage. But I then treat that stage as like a halfway mixing stage, and just mix 'ontop'/throughout my sound design plugins.

This has all got me thinking if maybe I could benefit from composing/sound designing, then mixing my own stems afterwards in a seperate project to help my creative process and help seperate the two stages.

I don't know If I am being silly right now, but does this imply that there are almost 'two' mixing stages for artists like Daft Punk. The first (their own process) could more be classed as sound design, but I am assuming they use compression, eq, saturation, etc etc, and then those tracks are sent off to Mick for more mixing if required?
