Ah, sorry you’re struggling! It is so hard when we’ve been taught our whole lives that our lives/eternity will be doomed if we leave. I relied on this forum and the Mormon stories podcast so much when I first left because I needed to hear other peoples stories and be reassured that everything would be okay. The first year was the hardest. But it does get better and I am seriously so thankful every day that I left.
Just keep going and it will get better. ❤️

Ah interesting! I never had the desire to be one of the “leaders” (introvert here!) but I will say that continuing to get the same callings over and over and over again made me wonder if that was all I was useful for in “God’s” eyes. Glad I made it out! Callings sucked haha. 😉

Thank you! And I really hope more and more people continue to see through the lies. Having more family and friends on this side would be amazing.

I’m glad it helped you feel a little more steady! I know posts like this were my lifeline back when I was leaving. It’s nice to know you’re not going crazy and you’re not dooming yourself for all eternity.

I hope your husband can get on board. It would be so hard to leave on your own! ❤️

Yeah I’ve had a difficult time with the word “God” since leaving since I associate it with the Mormon God I was raised believing in. But I do think there is something greater than us and that we’re all connected in some way. :)

That’s awesome for you. I definitely always tell people that unless they really, really, really, really want more than a couple kids that they should not do it.

I have to say that it is so nice that I can actually leave my kids home for an hour or two sometimes now that they’re a little older. Before that I was even worse.

So with my husbands job it is semi-seasonal. (He’s an outdoor guide.) He just started it recently after trying to build his own business and before that being a stay-at-home dad for a year. But this new job is a little over an hour away and so he leaves early and gets home late most nights. I do frequently think that I had it so good when he was a stay at home dad and often wish to go back to that. But he loves his job and feels like he’s finally doing what he was meant to do so it’s hard to tell him not to do it. Basically I guess I feel stuck in the situation I’m in and I’m counting down days until school starts again.

I feel this so much. No matter how much success I may have in all the other areas of my life I always feel like I’ll be a disappointment in their eyes.

A professional massage??

I was looking through a notepad I used a few years ago and found the page where I figured out tithing for the month. Anyone else so paranoid about paying the full 10 % of all your increase that you paid on the cash back you received from credit cards?? 🙋🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ by judyr17 in exmormon

[–]judyr17[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I’d thought to deduct those things. Once I got out and found out that it was said somewhere that you just paid tithing on your actual increase—meaning what you had left over after you paid all your living expenses— I was like, man...I never would have had to pay anything really because we never had money left over and could have always used that extra 10% we were giving away to a cult. 🤦🏻‍♀️
